Whoever gets the prized ride may have trouble trying to make the weight
There was a horse in QLD last week scratched as their was no suitable rider that could make the weight on a 60kg handicapped horse

I've always wondered what would happen in such situations where a horse is allocated 60-65kg???
How can the same rider get a ride on the same day with a horse in race 2 that carries 57kg, then on a horse that carries 60kg in race 7??? (for example)
I assumed that they could add weights onto the horse or rider???

What im 'on about' is because jockeys rarely need lead they will only have a few kilos worth in you kit bag at any time, so say Im going to a meeting and I weigh 52kg and my rides are 54, and 55 I would only bring enough lead/packing to ride those 2 horses. If I was asked to ride a horse at 60kg and could not borrow/find somewhere 5kg of lead I couldn't make the weight as what happened in QLD.

You should know what you have to ride at and carry the appropriate weight.... if its a pick up ride surely some of the other hoops not riding will lend you some weights..... if all else fails they could put dutchys wallet in their pockets

62kg given what a morale!!!! Every other horse on the minimum of 54. If he puts an apprentice on can come down to 59..... All Aboard??
