WELL the wednesday morning meetings at Angle Park are becoming a joke. Punters aren't turning up anymore and punters left halfway through the meeting. there was only 30 odd people upstairs and a third of those were trainers.
the reason, no bookie, and they only have two tote opens. we predicted the scenario the week before it happened and it has occurred the 2 weeks the bookie has not operated.
You have to line up 3 - 4 minutes before a race to get your bets on and with small pools it doesnt take a lot for makor fluctuations to occur. You back your selection at what you think are good odds only to get out of the line with your bets on to find your selection has shortened and at the new price you dont want to be on.
if they continue with no bookie SURELY they need another operator!!
I dont think that they want people to attend any meetings, i mean we are better off sitting in a pub!
a trainer and big punter who turns over massive amounts of cash, lost on monday night, and wanted to try and get his money back, where was the bookie? the bookie was happy to take his money on monday night!!!! he feels like boycotting betting with this bookie. the bookie claimed that he wasnt making any money out of the wednesday meetings yet this bloke told us his investments for the last month that the bookie was there!!!!
same bloke, originally from Melbourne, hadnt been back there for a number of years, the CEO of The Meadows comes up to him with a kiss and a hug, this morning at ANGLE PARK the officials gave no acknowledgement to him, he pumps thousands of dollars into the industry and sponsors country tracks, some of which charge him to get in!!!!!!!!!!
i mean fancy not even acknowledging a major sponsor!!!!
all the big punters arent returning to the track because of the no bookie situation and with no bookie they dont have a need to be at the track, they can do it all at home with Sky channel and a computer. there were several of those punters missing in action and i dont think they will be seen again, which is a loss to the industry given the amount of turnover they create.
the industry is absolutely screwed and it is going in one direction until something dramatic happens.
there is just so much to say and i could keep going, but i think that you all get the message.
