What is going on FFS?

Racing Victoria Limited Chief Executive Officer Rob Hines has announced today that the RVL Board will hold a special meeting next week to consider the incidents that have occurred in the jumps season to date and consider the future of jumps racing in Victoria.
He has asked the RVL Jumps Review Panel to prepare a report for the Board on each of the five horse fatalities that have occurred in jumps races and trials this season.

Three jump races were scheduled to be conducted at the Moe meeting on Sunday. These races will now be run as high weight flat races.

A decision on the future of jumps racing will be announced by the end of next week (Friday 15 May). No further comment will be made by Racing Victoria on the matter until that time.

Who seriously likes punting on them anyway????

i spoke to a couple of them at the entrance at oakbank & i heard the dribble & after a couple of minutes i said to them ''do you know what would happen to most of these horses if there were no jumping races'' ? the reply was no i then said ''well some of them would end up as a family hack, a couple could end up in other equestrian events like showhorses etc but most would end up at the doggers'' (i had to explain that to them) these two blokes didn't have a clue about that & i said ''well would you rather see them well fed & kept fit or just sent off to be killed ?''

as for these new jumps i think that is the problems because the horses learn that they don't have to 'jump' the hurdle/steeple but just 'skim' through it & this is the mistake horses are making imho as they don't respect the obstacle put in front of them
