Fellas, heading over to this years Derby day, What are the best vantage points at Flemington. The reserved seating options are Hill stand, Lawn Stand, Undercroft or The Banks. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers ;)

seating goes on sale 1 August.. (the last 2 years - i've been the 1st to purchase tickets - sad I know!!)

Undercroft - dud spot.. can't see a race.. only gets you a seat (it's in the undercover bookmakers ring)

Lawn Stand - good spot.. can see the races clearly and close to the winning post.. - only problem is it's not covered and if it rains (like it did Makybe Diva day in 2004 you're in trouble) or is stinking hot...

Hill Stand - is where we get our tickets for the 4 days and is more expensive then the other two. Above the lawn stand, close to the winning post and being slightly more elevated, you can see the races really well.. Is undercover if it rains or is too hot..

The Banks - i'm not sure exactly what this is, but my understanding is it's a spot about 50 -100m past the winning post and is not covered (if it's what I think it is) - basically an extention of the lawn stand..

Great 4 days of racing and fun.. I book my week off work every Jan / Feb for the coming year and love the atmosphere..

Thanks guys, Lawn Stand $109 with the Hill Stand $139. Opting towards the covered hill stand. Am presuming plenty of accessable bars and bookies available from both stands?
