I know very little about the sport but whenever i watch a sprint stage, that Cavendish from UK always seems to blow the others away. He is paying on sportsbet $2 to win the sprinters jersey. I know there are always things like crashes, drug scandels etc to be wary about but from my very little knowledge this seems to be overs.

Could anyone with a far greater grasp of this sport elaborate on why this wouldnt be a good bet...?

He has never finished a Tour de France before - in his two starts (2007 and 2008) he abandoned the race in the Alps both times.
Some sprinters just can't get over the hills day after day.

Last year he set his sights on as many stage wins as possible and then when he won the last one he had any chance in he was done so its a risky bet. Depends what he sees more important this year... stage wins or green jersey...
