Got an weather forecast for us Grub?
Is it going to be your typical grinding, slog of a british open with gale-force winds and rain?
Been 15 years since Turnberry last hosted an Open. It was very low-scoring (268 total), so there is the chance of benign conditions.
Colin Montgomerie was close there in '94 & i'll have a few quid on him @ $201. Doubt he is playing well enough, however.
If you look for the type of player who relished Turnberry, you would have to categorise them as - good putter, can manoevure the ball well, and perhaps an uncanny type.
Top 10 included - Nick Price, Fuzzy Zoeller, Parnevik, Faxon, Calcavecchia, Kite & Norman was close.
Will have some Mark Calcavecchia @ $401, if i remember correctly he got rorted by his ex-missus and pretty much has none of the spoils he made from his golfing career. He needs the cash more than anyone.

Yep, his Open record speaks for itself and he is not playing bad at all.
Worth a bit @ 301, as is Tom Lehman.
Also like - No hole in one for the tournament @ $1.68

Agree $1.68 is great value for no holes in one
Mark Calcavecchia is also great value, especially for the $10.00 on offer just to finish in top 25.
I also like................
Top 25
Martin Kaymer $1.90
Vijay Singh 2.55
Rory Sabbatini 3.70
Justin Rose 2.80
Thomas Levet 3.70
Miguel Angel Jiminez 3.70
Frederik Jacobson 5.50
and for top 25 roughies.........
Mark Calcavecchia $10.00
Stewart Cink 4.20
James Driscoll 15.00
Peter Hanson 5.50
Best Value of Tournament...............
Padraig Harrington $1.75
Ian Poulter 1.70
but I'll get to them later.
Best top 10 Picks.........
Padraig Harrington $3.20
Ian Poulter $2.95
Martin Kaymer $3.65
There is almost a guarantee that a roughie will finish in the top 5.
My picks are - bearing in mind as long as one of these gets in top 5 you'll be miles in front - are...........
Chad Campbell $34.00
Johan Edfors 34.00
Gonzalo Fernandez Castano 23.00
Paul McGinley $41.00
Richard Sterne $41.00
Graeme Storm $34.00
IMHO opinion the best bets of the tournament are........
Henrik Stenson @ $2.11 to have best first round out of his three ball of Wen Chong liang ($5.90) and Steve Stricker ($2.18)
As much as I do hate to say it Norman to miss cut @ $1.83. hasn't played enough and used all his luck last year.
Adam Scott @ $2.60 to miss the cut. IMHO this is the bet of the tournament. He's been in terrible form on the target golf setup of the USPGA tour that he prefers and this will be too tough for him even though he's finished in top 35 the last 4 years.
Luke Donald @ $2.16 to have best first round in his three ball of Darren Clarke ($2.45) and Azuma Yano ($4.30)
Padraig Harrington @ $1.33 to make the cut. If you put $200 on it, it'll be the easiest $66 you ever made.
Richard Sterne @ $3.10 to have best first round score out of his threesome including Francesco Molinari @$2.21 and Paul Goydos @ $3.25
Soren Kjeldsen @$2.11 to have best first round out of Brian Gay ($2.11) and Nick Faldo ($6.50)
By the way, as a multi, Kjeldsen, Donald, Sterne and Stenson are paying $29.81 per dollar as a multi.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

Ive centered my bets around Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, a perenial place getter in almost every tournement he plays (he has been runner up at least 3 times this year) and Mike Weir. I think ive punted 6 times on G F-C this year for 5 collects.

Sportsbet are offering top 6 for each way bets, so i've gone with:
Graeme Storm @ $201 - $5 E/W
Always lurking in Europe and majors
Adam Scott @ $51 - $10 E/W
Originally thought he might struggle, but 3rd at Scottish Open last wk & his OPEN record ain't bad.
Tim Stewart @ $1501 - $2 E/W
Young Aussie amateur, think he will make the cut. But probably not up to a top 6 finish. Just for interest.
David Duval @ $101 - $10 E/W
Showed good signs in the US OPEN
Colin Montgomerie @ $201 - $2 E/W
Probably past it, but likes Turnberry
Mark Calcavecchia @ $401 - $2 E/W
Loves Turnberry & needs some cash after his missus shafted him.
John Daly @ $301 - $2 E/W
Was seemingly finiding some form. Might like this track & is an OPEN winner.
David Smail @ $501 - $2 E/W
Good value for a quality player used to OPEN conditions. Not sure what he's been playing like recently though.
Light winds expected for the first three days i've decided against the $1.68 for 'No hole in one for tourney'
