This years Miracle mile will be held at Menangle on Sunday.
Any thoughts?
Being on the bigger track for the 1st time, barrier draws arn't quite as crucial as they were at Harold Park.
The toughest MM to pick the winner ever imo.
Lonestar Legend Cant win and also Karloo Mick tho could run a place without surprising.
Having a guess - Melpark Major and Monkey King to battle it out.

Monkey King looks the real deal to me.

Will be laying Auckland Reactor, think connections might have taxed him a little too much. He doesn't have the fight he had as a youngster.

What are the barrier draws? They out yet?

Can never underestimate Blackie, I doubt he can win but is always a great top 3 prospect.

He doesn't know anything about the gallops, what makes him think he knows anything about harness racing?

i think monkey king is a special will get a tack up three wide and will have to much high speed. I dont think the reactor or melpark can win. Does any one think the pole horse will hand up i dont but if it does it will change the race will change and smoken up is nearly a good thing each way.

Of course the "pole" will hand up otherwise it will get scraped off the track by the water truck
Smoken Up will lead but who will do the attacking ????
Auckland Reactor is a definite LAY at that price.

Lonestar Legend couldnt possibly hold the lead after it couldnt beat the Saucy who is far from these grade of horses.
My tip is the Monkey will continue on his merry way

Maybe they should go back and award the race to the horses that were in front 151 metres from the post in those races. ;)

Monkey King wins in a new Australasian mile rate record of 1:50.8 (time supplied by Sport 927).

Great race and sensational time BUT what about the drive by Amy Tubbs on Melpark Major

Instead of Lance Justice flying the flag, he will be wrapping it around her neck ;)

Cant have it both ways, It was a great race bcos of the drive on M.Major otherwise it would have been another boring procession.

OK but did Amy give her horse the best possible chance in the race ?????

NO and the stewards should ask the question and there are no prizes for guessing who I was on :( :(

in my opinion she did - this season we have seen smoken up vs melpark major plenty of times and whichever has been infront leading into teh straight has won. that was mm only chance of beating smoken up - be infront for as long as possible

Despite moving from Harold Park to a track almost double its size in Menangle, we still saw the barrier draw bascically decide the race again. The 3 outside horses who are pretty handy (basically champions) M.M. , A.R. , and B.a.F. , couldn't run in the first 4 of a field of 8.
Dont know what the answer is to make it fairer apart from run it on a straight 1609m track to give all horse the same chance.
Is there a track like this anywhere in the world and if not, what would be the reasons for there not being one?
Obviously from a spectators point of view it would be shit, like watching those horrid straight 1000m races at Vic Park in years gone by, had NFI who was leading what until they flashed past the past.

despite the track the horses that went back at the start had to run a world record for a half mile to win. The times they run dont allow the horses back in the field in some ordinary races to make ground now a days.
