last week i invested $150 to buy into "navigator pro" which is promoted in practical punting monthly. they claim to have made a profit of 117% over 18 months, it is very easy to use as they email their tips friday. i received 5 horses and the only collect i had was a scratching  . does anybody else on here subscribe to this tipping service? and if so, is it as successful as they say it to be? My feeling is that they would be in breach of the trade practices act to advertise something that is crap. Thoughts please

If they are genuine then they will publicly show their results and how they have achieved their 117%, ask them for their past picks to confirm, if they cant they are genuine. I follow these guys and you can see every single play they have released going back 4 years - www.americansportsconsultants.com

Keep records for the year and post them here from time to time would be interesting to see how they go in reality

Try this one - www.chapionpicks.com.au - they have some impressive results. I am signed up for the black bookers more for interest than following the religiously as the only way I bet.... Have had some cracking winners though to boost my bank balance at times!

You need to be very very careful with these things - I would almost completely guarantee they are complete scams.

What these "companies" often do is start up something like 1000 random "systems" that are based on very little evidence. By chance one or two of them will appear to be performing well over a period of a year or two. So they then market this system as their (only) system and show the results from this one only and trick people into paying money. Because there is no concrete science behind it, there is no reason this particular system will perform any better than any of their other systems in the future.

DO NOT GET SUCKED IN!!!

ECKY is 100% correct

This is what can be done
You get a computer programme or do the research yourself
Anything that works in the recent past can be construed as a winning system

That does not mean a particular system wont continue to prosper
But the flipside is that theres no reason why it should continue to win

A sibling of mine buys these systems habitually seeking the goldmine system
He continues to amass losses

QUESTION
Why would anybody or any company want to share a winning system ?
If its a foolproof winning system , they can bet in thousands and bank in millions

My advice an emphatic NO

: DONT GET SUCKED IN :

Well done on finding one that is working
Keep using it if keeps winning
Winning in the short term
If it wins in the long term please let Proffesors Ecky and Mal know about it !

A mate of mine paid $6,500 to be sent 5 tips every Sat for a year. He got sent the nice glossy folder that turned $500 into $39,000 in a year...and the figures were there to prove it of the 52 weeks and the 5 bets placed per week betting 10% of your pool each bet.

Let me tell you he not only lost his $500 but the $6,500 to be involved.... absolute con job.

I could make up a nice glossy folder and pick some nice results from the last years race results and fudge them to make myself look good to. As I doubt you will get many people to sign up if they were truthful and put their actual selections.

Give me AG's overs bet on the JC's anyday!!! Its the only system I am in front with.

Why anyone would pay that sort of cash is just beyond me!!!

The Blackbookers I signed up to is $99 per month and the first week I won very quickly 6 months worth....

I can beat that !!!!!!

Just this morning I was offered an oportunity to take up one of only 200 limited spots from some mob who must have sent me a glossy folder recently, so I played along and acted interested and the bottom line was it was only going to cost $7,900

He then rattled on about putting it on a credit card and the winnings pay off the interest etc easily and you also get to earn "fly buy" points as a bonus but you only ever bet 10% of your pool and always withdraw your winnings. It was at this stage I got bored and couldnt be stuffed playing along with him any more

It was about a decade ago
I was on the dole and had to declare to the dole office 6 jobs I had applied for in the 2 weeks between cheques
After a little while I answered some work from home and investment portfolios
I would ask for the info to be sent as they were on recorded messages most times
Several of those were racing systems

One of these was a ripsnorter
I got this sensational glossy report showing how a bank of whatever turned into a sMALl fortune
As with G it was betting to a 10% of the bank per bet
They had some staggering results on the horseys

I got this guy by phone who explained that the system was the be all and end all of all racing systems
I strung him along for a few weeks
The asking price was a mere $6000 from memory
After a few calls and chats it became the me only special price of about $1500

Then the manager of the outfit rang me
He said that there were limited spots left and that at $1500 it was a bargain price
He quoted , we give out 200 spots to Victorian clients
And we are offering the system to only 25 South Aussies
I asked why ?
He replied ''not to flood the market on my local tote"

Only prob with that comment at the time wuz
THE SA TAB WUZ LINKED WITH SUPERTAB AT THAT TIME, DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

A few people must get 'sucked' in though.

I had a friend whose boyfriend tried desperately to borrow $5000 off her for a similar thing.
Showed her all the glossy mags etc to try and convince her.

She said no, no, no - not long after I think she said - see you later, see you later, see you later....lol.

4 bets for 2 winners on saturday returning a small profit for the day.

a friend who has the longshots system had 4 bets for a $7 third - growl, and a $19 winner - constant. based on $1ew on these 4 selections there was a profit of 300%, so things are looking up ;)
