Harness Heroics go Horrible....

Having turned $60 into $186 thru mal's dog treble (aint he the shy one), I tried to be Superman (wearing my undies on the outside) with these bets at the Valley on Friday night;
Lombo Magic...galloped out the barrier (I went & got a stiff brandy at the bar), went back to last, and put up a great effort to run third. Bet was $20 to win....Lost the lot.
Jay Vee Rowan...for a horse who does not like the peg line, I was stunned to see him go straight to the fence,four back in the running. Another brandy was had. Bet was $5 x $15....Lost the lot.
Awsomely.....$30 x $30, and travelled sweetly on the back of the leader. Paying $9.60 and $2.30, I was counting my money in the run. Got the sprint lane at the top of the straight,zoomed up to them, but didn't chase keenly and was beaten nose x nose x nose into fourth. Another brandy.. a double in fact....Need I say it, Lost the lot. I know it is starting to sound like a Mantra.
Running Pinevale....I didn't see the race, as I was buying another brandy, but the bartender told me it galloped out the barrier. Of course it did, I was on it!! Mantra time...Lost the lot.
Vin Cere @ Harold Park...started way too short...and got none of my money (bet was to be $15 x $15) did run a good race, to finish a close third, and is worth following. Get ready folks, Saved my money...thats almost like winning.
M.V. Treble...First leg, 1,6,10...Quinellered this leg. Second leg, 5,7,8...Trifected this leg with a gutsy Sokyola beating a game Scruffy Murphy, from a brave Mont Denver Gold. Last Leg, 1,2,8,10,11,12...Trfected this leg as well )but so you should when you have six chances running for you). Thankfully the right one got up, and Treble paid $72. Get ready for this, I finally made a profit. Thgough the Treble cost $54, and not the $36 I posted. Maths is supposed to be my strong point. P.S.....by this time I was well on my way to alcoholic poisoning. Those brandies will get you every time !!
THE WASH UP.......My original $60, which went to $186, was now back to $102 ( less the cost of five or six brandies). Which got me to thinking. Yes, I do that on occassions. Was Mal correct ? Was I betting dangerously ?
No doubt I love Harness racing. It was exciting watching Sokyola dig deep to win, even though Scruffy would have been a better result for my treble. And yes folks, I did have a mini orgasm, watching my hero Blacks A Fake cream a good field in Qld in the Winter Cup. I do hope he comes here for the Interdominion.
MY QUEST FROM THE 1st OF AUGUST.......is to turn my $100 into $1,000 just concentrating on Moonee Valley. I will post my selections each week, outlining my bets, and see how long it takes. What a Challenge......$100 to $1,000 or bust. I am going out now, to buy a full bottle of brandy......
