Folks,

Getting to the business end of the season now for the battle to win ol' Charlie, and note some value there in the markets. Current top 13 is

* JUDD Chris (WCE) $3.25 $1.56
* GOODWIN Simon (ADEL) $4.00 $1.75
* GOODES Adam (SYD) $6.00 $2.25
* WEST Scott (WBDS) $7.00 $2.50
* RIEWOLDT Nick (STK) $12.00 $3.75
* BRUCE Cameron (MELB) $13.00 $4.00
* JOHNSON Brad (WBDS) $14.00 $4.25
* PAVLICH Matthew (FREM) $28.00 $7.75
* JOHNSTONE Travis (MELB) $31.00 $8.50
* BURGOYNE Shaun (PORT) $41.00 $11.00
* EDWARDS Tyson (ADEL) $51.00 $13.50
* JOHNCOCK Graham (ADEL) $51.00 $13.50
* COUSINS Ben (WCE) $51.00 $13.50

Would suggest that Judd not really value at $3.25 at this stage, and Perce still has a long memory of Goodwin's ordinary polling as a high fancy last year. West, while getting plenty of touches this year, has probably had better seasons and not sure Riewoldt has really dominated enough games to be so short.
Think, therefore, that Johnstone really appeals at $31, and especially $8.50 for a place; while Cousins has had a blinding second half - particularly when Judd was injured - and well worth throwing in at the $51.

For the real roughies to make things interesting, have a look at Geelong's Paul Chapman at $401. Currently also returning $81 for a top 5 finish; has had his best season easily and should come under the umpires eye on a few occasions with goalkicking nous and a number of clearances when on the ball.

Brad Johnson when he kicks his 5 goals regularly will be interesting to see if he gets the 3 vote or 1.

Well folks, the votes have stopped, so now it is time to put our proverbials on the line. I propose everyone putting all B'low bets in this forum to keep it tidy. The current top 12 is as follows:

GOODES Adam (SYD) $2.35 $1.33
2675 WEST Scott (WBDS) $4.50 $1.87
2615 JUDD Chris (WCE) $5.50 $2.12
2602 COUSINS Ben (WCE) $8.00 $2.75
2011 GOODWIN Simon (ADEL) $9.00 $3.00
2655 JOHNSON Brad (WBDS) $14.00 $4.25
2520 DAL SANTO Nick (STK) $17.00 $5.00
2544 RIEWOLDT Nick (STK) $18.00 $5.25
2009 EDWARDS Tyson (ADEL) $31.00 $8.50
2431 BURGOYNE Shaun (PORT) $51.00 $13.50
2242 PAVLICH Matthew (FREM) $61.00 $16.00
2390 BRUCE Cameron (MELB) $71.00 $18.50

There are, however, plenty of other options available for most team votes: head to head battles etc.

Still think Edwards appeals on an e/w basis at $31, given Goodwin not a noted votegetter in the past. Ol' Perce wishes he'd taken the $51 on offer on Cousins when this was originally posted. SOMEONE from Freo will have to get votes in their run home, and not certain it will be Pavlich. Having said that, their leading chances (Bell, J. Carr) are ineligible. The top votegetter per club option, however, does allow to punt on ineligible players, so we'll take Josh Carr to take the most votes there at $8.50. Bell not huge value at the $2.50 on offer.

Think Paul Chapman from Geelong is a near monty to top their votes at $4.00. Has had a blinding season, whereas Ablett (their fave) often gets noticed by the media, but not a lot by umps. Also suspect he represents reasonable value at $41 to run Top 5 in the count overall, but not a lot on this though.

Given Brisbane simply didn't win enough games, but when they did, he was on fire - Brown to top their votes at $2.50.

Let's see how we all go on the night, folks!

SINCE THEN: Have put the measly $3 minimum (at the time!) on two B'low multis for Most Votes - Club:

- S. Burgoyne/J. Carr/Hodge/Johnstone/Cousins - to win $1326
- Brown/Fevola/Chapman/Del Santo - to win $119.70.

some terrible odds there..presume these are from PUNITAB...you can get much better elsewhere...I like Brad Johnson and can get over 20/1 in other places.

Im going to have some bets on the Club High which is a great betting option.

Im going to do some more research before I punt and post them but one that stands out to me is Fevola at Carlton at $1-90...that is the proverbial Bayman gift!

I remember seeing a bloke at the Marion Rd TAB and he put 2k on Tredrea to win the Brownlow in 2004 when he was a massive favourite. I asked him why he invested such a large bet on an event that is notorious for favourites not winning!
He said he had a good leak from a high up source and that it was a done thing.
I was happy putting on my $20 on Judd
Later that night after round 15 when Tredders only had about 7 votes, I smiled at the TV and thought what a wanker!

How would the people who think they know the winner before the event have any idea? Aren't the votes counted on the night, or is that just what they say? Even still, I think people just do leaks to get people to put a lot of money on that player, so the player the leaker wants to put money on will have slightly higher odds. Its all crap.

If you put more than 20 bucks on the Brownlow you are simply a daft prick! When you let maggots in white decide the winner of a medal, you are bound to come unstuck, more so than a midget riding an animal on its back!!!

Unlucky Grub - if so....I laughed long and hard into the night!!!!

Clement wont get in the top 10. Doesnt mean crap whether he has polled in the top 5 of his team every game all year....they dont vote the 3-2-1 during the game. Like Rutten, probably one of the most valuable players for the Crows team each game, but won get many Brownlow votes!
