Legislation to ban pub poker! Ridiculous, if you love poker then talk to your local member

I think this part means that the poker tournaments played at footy clubs and pubs are fine, because you don't actually buy in to them.

It is the Government's intention to make a regulation to clarify the definition of tournament poker and to ensure that tournament poker that does not involve gambling is not an unlawful game.

Calm your tits fellas.

Whats wrong with a buy in poker tournament though? Making it free only will kill the industry and wont get me playing, ever.

Aren't the ones at footy clubs free anyway? They were last time I played in them. That was about 5 years ago though. Winners qualified for bigger tournaments.

Much better quality of game when there's a buy-in .. Much cheaper form of gambling too (well at pub buy-in levels anyway)

With any tournament that has a prize at the end of it could be classed as gambling, therefore shutting down the pub/club games.

Will only drive poker back underground or the casino... And we all know that the casino doesn't really give a flying **** about the players
