What a FIASCO at Ballarat trots tonight.
Stewards checked the legality of sulkies and discovered slightly oversized ones were being used and trainers would have to swap to smaller sulkies. Leading trainers were p1ssed off understandably and 6 horses were scratched from the cup race. A Group 1 race which devastated the field and left afield of only 4 runners.
The race developed into a joke as the $1.04 favorite, Terror to Love sat last as Im Corzin Terror dawdled in front. In an incredibly quick last half, Terror to love couldnt pick the leader up.
An utter shambles by the Victorian trotting fraternity.

Total F^*% up. Obviously a tip off from some bitter loser. 2 sides of the coin tho, 1) drivers/trainers would know the rules, the harness club have the right to call such things when they feel the OHS standards aren't met., 2) why tonight? Could have dealt with it any other time.

Tattsbet has the results 5-2-3-6. You would be spewing if you missed out on the trifecta/first four because of an error

Stewards report in the wrongggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg number

Sometime after the final race it was established the incorrect numbers[placings 3rd and 4th] had been notified to the TAB, by the steward in charge
The numbers of the placed horses notified to the TAB were 5,2,3,6 where in fact the correct numbers should have been 5,2,6,3
After reviewing the matter , whilst blame blame for the error was not attributed to any individual as it appeared that a breakdown in procedure was the cause of the error, it is acknowledged that the steward in charge is ultimately responsible for notifying the correct numbers to the TAB and this had not happened on this occasion.
The stewards will review all aspects of the all clear procedure to prevent any reoccurence

There was no third div
The result only affected Trifectas and Pick4s
These were the holdings on Unitab
$2288 TRI
$484 P4
After commissions were taken out it leaves about $2200 to be paid back to the punters

Unitab paid out that $2200 on the wrong placings
To reverse the placings, even now, would cost them another $2200 in payments

Rather than worrying about legal action , or protests to an Ombudsman ,or whatever, should Unitab pay twice?
The $2200 is insignificant for a large corporation
By paying twice they would keep punters very happy
It would probably be a great public relations exercise for them as well

In the Cup, took the whole of the straight at the finish to get the name of the leader and winner out.
Needs to take a breath during the race and just call it as it is rather than carry on like a Dick head !

2015 Interdominion Final is at Menangle this afternoon. Using the same crap formula of last year. Four separate heats run on the same night in four different cities, not even a NZ heat this year, followed by the Final.
What was wrong with the carnivals of old? Multiple heats over varying distances for points meant the best horses made the final. The occasional hard luck story but one bad run didn't necessarily rule you out of contention for the Final.
This format, arse one fourth place and you are in.
As I type, about 75 minutes to start time, on fixed odds, of the 14 starters, 10 are $51-201. Only 3 under$10. Should be an awesome spectacle.
