Moonee Valley Tips for 25.08.06.......

Postby Dan Patch » Thu Aug 24, 2006 8:04 pm

The $100 to $1,000 OR Bust.........Current Balance...$3.50 (on life support system)

What a week. Flew to Melbourne last Thursday night. Have not stopped since.

Friday day....visited some local TAB's. Report to follow.

Friday Night...Moonee Valley. $9.00 to get in. Poor value, as there is no cafeteria, and the only eating spot is 250 Metres away from the betting ring. Only about 350 people on course. Three bookmakers betting on locals only, and one bookie betting on Sydney & Gloucester Park. They do have lots opf TV screens, and you can hear the races from all five states. When Lance Justice won the big race on Sokyola, he made a speech to two people and three posts. The posts did not applaud at the end. No atmosphere, no excitement, no thrills (apart from the fact that they have the best horses going around). The prize money holds up, and no one seems to care.

Saturday day....Caulfield. About 4,500 people, 20 bookmakers, and at least some atmosphere. Saw an up and coming champion in Haradasun storm down the outside for a big win. This horse has a future. There was a buzz on course, and that included an area where six bookies were betting on the football.

Saturday night...The Meadows. A crowd of about 200 showed up, and that included about 50 children. A bookmaker did show up after race-1, but only bet on the locals. They have screens for the other states, but no call of any trot meetings. Only pictures.

Sunday day....Ballarat, and the Breeders Crown. A massive crowd of 4,000 packed Ballarat to cheer home Lombo Pocket Watch. What a race!!! There was atmosphere and excitement to burn. Well worth the $10 entry fee. As you entered the place, you were given a first four combination that was yours for the day. If in any race your numbers were the first four past the post in order, you won $1,000 . I saw two such winners, and boy were they HAPPY?? Three bookmakers fielded, and only one of them bet on the Flemington race meeting, but they did heaps of business.

Monday day...Went to Maryborough Trots. Sixty people showed up. About ten of those bet with the single bookmaker there, while most of the others took turns in falling asleep. They have a race every 40-minutes, if you remember to watch.

Tuesday day...visited some Tabaret outlets.

Tuesday night...Went to Geelong Trots. I counted them, there were 42 people on course, not including drivers. Fields were poor, and it was boring. Still they raced for five and six thousand dollars per race.

Wednesday day....Werribee Races. Good crowd, about 2,500. Saw Damian Oliver almost kill himself in what was a spectacular fall. Who would want to be a jockey. ?? Six bookmakers did some brisk business.

Thursday...Today...Went to a funeral...NO, not mine.

SUMMARY.......Victorians like Chips. The Potato variety. Cooked. They have them with everything. Icecream and coffee included.

They have great TAB outlets, with fantastic form guides, both paper and computer.

They are only interested in Victorian event, except on Saturdays, when their pasopers give first rate guides for every state.

They have Quaddies, and boy do they pay well.

This week;s Bet.............It will come as no surprise to anybody, but with $3.50 left in the kitty, I am waiting for a good thing>

Good Luck, and Good Punting......More next week....

that is a big week in foo.....oops i meant racing!!!!!!!!!

covered all 3 codes excellent report. im flying out tomorrow morning. was thinking of the trots but at $9 ill be at the Crown watching them on the big screen especially the first at globe derby tomorrow night!

The $10 for the Breeders Crown seemed quite good value given i think it was the highest ever trot meeting for prizemoney.

id like to go over to victoria when they have a tri-code meeting and they have about 40 meetings off the codes, what a day that would be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What did you think of the computer game they have in the Tabaret where you can bet on a computer race of horses, trots and dogs. the dog fields are upto 15 if i remember correctly.
