Angle park had 2 bookies on a Monday night for the first time in ages.
Resident bookie Peter Dammerell was joined by Curly Seal.
Give credit where it is due, both bookies bet 120% on the jump, which
is about the TAB %,
I spoke to a couple of high profiled proffessional punters who were very
impressed with the 2 bookies operating.
Both bookies are the unsung heroes on the local scene as they continue
to support the racing clubs despite the gambling dollar disapeering into
pokies venues, casinos, off course TAB outlets and Internet betting firms.
Greg Mcatee also contributes by propping up the country dog meetings.
However the bookies may be fighting a lost cause unless racing clubs
make some courageous decisions and re-ignite attendance figures.

perhaps if they bet e/w as well as concession & even place, although with dammerrell betting there it would be a concern as he bet shocking place odds when he did bet place at the trotts although that stopped altogether when baymans brother got him big time & with free entry i agree but the arguements is if you let them in for free when the novelty wears off they dont come anyway the other point is you pay for entertainment ie movies, theatre, cricket, footy etc & this is entertainment as well, but why should you pay to get in to have the privellage of losing !!! or in dutchy's case winning

Yes Bayman, but when you get inside the pictures, the entertainment starts & the spending stops (excluding being robbed at the tuck shop).
You don't pay to get in at the Casino, TAB or PubTab....

BAYMAN you are sounding like KENNEDY who said at the forum 'FREE ENTRY WOULD BE DEGRADING TO THE INDUSTRY'
personally it wouldnt be degrading if more people attended on-course and had a few bets, drinks and food. the money that they would make from those would be enough to counter the entry fee.

Peter Dammerell breeds German Sheperds and won about 3 awards
at this years Royal Show.
Personally I have found him a very astute and clever man.
As I have said in previous posts the Bookies in this state are
basically nice blokes, a couple are just incompetent.
