bookie set to quit update

i was at the trotts last night & as a few of us were talking about the demise of the bookie's & i found out (rumour) that when the ceo found out of curlys departure from the track he & curly were at loggerheads over this & it was a heated arguement, the ceo told him he had to field at gdp and the response was it is my business & i'll do what i see fit (which i agree with)

the most astonishing thing about it was the ceo's brother told the ceo, so it tells me that the ceo has no idea about anything that goes on (as i thought) just getting paid the big bucks to sit in an office & do nothing constructive just argue with people that has supported the business he runs (alledgedly runs) while most of the participants are starving or have moved to victoria or wa so they can eat & pay the bills

just on another point we were talking about no publicity as last night there was a glaring opportunity to promote & the idea came up, was that with no footy on in adelaide & nice weather forecasted why didn't they get a couple of celebrities out there have a 'match race' & by promoting it you would have got a lot more in on the lawns with the eskies etc by the way it was a good crowd anyway but when you have chances to increse crowds etc why dont they try these things ?, we thought that if he was on a 'performance based salary' he'd be doing these things

The club is in crisis from within the commitee.
A supreme court action has been taken, something to do
with a commitee re-election :?:
There is mention about an unorthodox voting proceedure
which is opposed by one of the two factions in the power process.

A protracted expensive court battle would be devastating for a club
with is reputed to be hundreds of thousnds of dollars in debt :?:
All this despite having the profitable pokies there.

My advice to the CEO and others in the industry would be to get
the house in order, stimulate crowd attendances somehow and then
maybe just maybe Bookmakers may want to stay on course.

BAYMAN for CEO!!!!!!!!!!

as BAYMAN stated the weather was forecast to be good there was nothing on in ADELAIDE, the show had finished the week before, no footy, no real direct competition and what did they do???

im thinking that the budget they have for advertisements and promotions is only used during the summer carnival and the rest of the year they just hope people remember the trots are on.

one of the first things i'd do is get a permanent playground there for kids ie slippery dip, swings etc rather than spend big for 3 weeks a year & i'd also clean out the old tote downstairs & put a film on for the older kids, or even a kids disco in there

half true but little bayman now gets a book & has his $1.00 e/w on his tips & he has to write down the numbers of the finish etc etc so yes a playground would save me the $2.50 for a book, about $20.00 on the punt although he backed the last winner saturday (god only knows how it won) & a playground would keep lb out of the ring well at least i hope it would !!! as for little grubs yes lb & lg could look after each other while ag & myself can concentrate
