mal & his backing up

Postby bayman » Mon Oct 30, 2006 6:06 pm

well today off the top of my head without going through the whole fields this has occured

r2 no 8 won on sat & won today
r4 no 6 won on friday & unplaced today but did draw poorly & it was a tough race
r6 no 7 2nd on friday & 4th today & the 3 that beat it home are better horses than it
r8 no 3 2nd on friday & 3rd today

so you can pull out horses that dont back up but i can do the same the other way round so now i'll say it again most horses can back up but being individuals as with people they're all different & you have to treat them individually

i think the feed is a bigger issue :!: :!:

Your like a rottweiler who wont let go BAYMAN
R2-8 was a trotters race, where they can do it WE agreed.
Not many pacers have done it at GDP
Another 3 pacers lost again today
Thats at least 6 in a row in the last 7 days, and not one winner.
Thanks for bringing it up, next time try posting when one wins.

that first line sounds familiar, i said that to & about you yesterday on the way to strath & now to suit your arguement your seperating trotters from pacers if you wanted to seperate them why didn't you on day one ?

i'll say it again the feed issue is a bigger issue if you knew what happens in some stables

I think we are forgetting one - Race 4 number 1 (went like an ant in race 9 on Saturday - see my post about the cat) and it wins today at $12...

I offered a friend of mine 1000/1 about it beating my horse on Saturday, he didn't take it and it got beaten by 10m by my mare (who should have run at very worst 2nd!!).. yet she can't win another race!! But we know it's not far off...

Backing up horses is really up to each horse, I find that most pacers / trots can do it from time to time, but you can't race them 2 - 3 times a week all the time.. speaking to a few friends a 7 - 10 day break between runs is good, gives them 1 -2 days to recover, a couple of days jogging, a fast work session and then they race again.. they don't go flat from constant racing and can cope quite well on this..

Case in point - my horse has run every saturday night for 6 weeks, she is going better then ever and enjoys going to the track.. when you race them Fri / Mon all the time, the horses can become sour and not try...

i dont think so as if you read what scd said PROPERLY is exactly right that most can handle it

now i have never said twice a week every week (you find where i've said that ?& post it up) i've said that most can back up in a couple of days & they can but i say again i never said twice a week every week & its mainly geldings that can do it as scd says some can go sour (mainly mares)

one more thing you seperated trotters from paces yesterday why THEY ARE THE SAME BREED OF HORSE
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Every horse can run twice in 3 days.
How many are 100 % fit ?
How does the trainer know when nominating a horse saturday then monday, how
that horse will pull up ?

A horse that has had 7 days off will invariably be fitter and better than the horse
which has had 3 days off.
Otherwise all horses would run sat/monday.

I don't think that would happen - Mal wouldn't be able to get off the sofa long enough to play cricket.. he might miss the 1st at New Zealand or the last at Cannington Dogs..

As for backing up - the trots / pacers can do it, and some actually go better for doing it, especially troublesome horses, because it just takes the edge off them.. racing 3 times a week I wouldn't suggest as the best option, but twice a week every now and then doesn't hurt..

As for Dyna Utah - well that's just sad, 15 runs in 15 days is just silly and the dog will never win races while they do that with it!!

well knowing mal if your on 99 he'd be on 60 odd & that would be with a head start in the batting order they could never set a field for him as his on drives would go to 3rd man his off drives would go to fine leg & his pulls & hook(er)s would end up high over the bowlers head & his cuts would most of the time end up over the 'keepers head
