EFFICIENT late scratching IN mELboUrNe CuP INEFFICIENT

Postby mal » Tue Nov 07, 2006 8:37 pm

Star 3 year old EFFICIENT was a late scratching today from the 2006 MALbourne Cup.
The horse galloped earlier and was found to be injured leaving connections
no choice but to scratch the horse.
EFFICIENT was lining up for its 6th consequitive win in the Cup and was 3rd favourite
in most prepost markets.
2 Months ago the horse was still a maiden.

SEP 9 WON 1400M BALLARAT MAIDEN
OCT01 WON 1400M SANDOWN HANDICAP
OCT18 WON 1600M CAULFIELD PLATE
OCT28 WON 2040M MOONEY VALLEY
NOV04 WON 2500M FLEMINGTON DERBY

Wouldja look at that it was going to have its 3rd run 10 days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wouldja look at that it was going to have its 2nd run in 3 days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here we are expecting a 3yo horse to have 2 runs in 3 days at an untried gruelling
2 mile race, are they dreaming ?
No wonder the horse was sore this morning.

AND ONCE AGAIN IN A RACE CODE SPORT ANOTHER HORSE [THE 25TH NOMINATED HORSE]
MISSES OUT ON A RUN BECAUSE OF THIS.

And just for the record a 3yo has not won the MALbourne Cup since about 1941.

Shame shame shame.

PATANI (IF THATS THE WAY YOU SPELL IT) & THE REASON THERE IS NO RESERVES/EMERGENCIES IS (& YOU WONT BELIEVE IT) IS THAT TOTES (COMPUTERS) AROUND AUSTRALIA CAN HANDLE UP TO 24 HORSES & NO MORE

MY THOUGHTS IS, WHY FOR THE TOTES SAKE THAT THE NUMBER THE EMERGENCY HAS, TAKE OVER FROM THE SCRATCHING (IE IT WEARS NO25 BUT FOR THE TOTES IT GOES BY THE SCRATCHINGS NUMBER 24) OR BRACKET HORSES LIKE THEY USED TO DO WHEN THEY BET ON THE GRAND NATIONAL FROM ENGLAND
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Mal - I know you wont like this however there was a Thoroughbred that WON today after racing yesterday! Ipswich Race 3 No.3 Zazz....came 2nd at Doomben yesterday on a slow track...the commentator said he didnt put it in his selections because he just presumed it would be scratched!!!!

As a punter you go broke backing horses/dogs/trotters that run a million
times a week.

About 5 horses ran on the saturday and then in the cup Tuesday.
4 were unplaced
The other ran 3rd and apparently the horse broke down.
The sixth one EFFICIENT was scratched

Zazz won after a 24 hour spell.
If its that easy how come about 99% off all horse trainers dont do it?
