Bookie mistake - nearly got on

Postby Dutchy » Sun Nov 26, 2006 11:08 pm

Just looking at the NBA betting for tomorrow and the IND/TOR game $2.10 line was showing +1.5 BOTH sides.....had $300- in the account so tried to put $150- on each team at +1.5 only for the odds to change as I was trying to confirm the bet....BUGGER...line now -2.5/+2.5

I would have won $15- g'teed if either team won by 2 points and above however if either team won by a point I would have collected $330- profit with no risk at all....

CENTREBET - quite often make mistakes when they do markets so it always pays to watch them as they put them up.

was at the alice springs races once when a bookie was still taking bets on an interstate race, Sydney i think, even though the race was finished, took him about 5 minutes to realise and close betting - there was a line up trying to get on and he actually paid out all bets.

anyone seen anything like this in adelaide?

Also happened at the penong races few years back. For some reason the on course interstate race calls were delayed and there was a few blokes racing from their cars to the betting ring!! We loved it, took them 4 races to realise what was happening!!

This isnt a mistake more of a line error

SAS are 17 points up at half time against LAC, Centrebet are showing the line at -13.5 in their live betting.

Now to me this is way under, should be 18 or 19, SAS are the best team in the league, they beat LAC by 29 last week and are killing them tonight...Ive already got SAS -2.5 to win a bundle so dont want to risk that collect but Ive had a bet on the -13.5 as I just think its a rediculous line....lets see whos right!!!

thats right mt it was no9 at dapto it had already run & why we got on was that at dapto 2 races in a row had identical scratchings 6,10 thus 9 was in box 6 twice in a row & the big girl working for stewart didn't take the names out of the board & thus we got on i had 50 e/w @ 55/10

but here is a better one than that, i went over to kilmore for the kilmore cup a few years back & there were 4 bookies betting on kilmore & 1 poor bookie betting on everything else (6 meetings) when i noticed the results on the tote for a race at terang & the bookie was still betting on it as sky & the radio had lost the line/link so over i went & had 100 e/w @ 10/1 & after the bookie held about 15-20 bets (i was 3rd) he smelt a rat & stopped betting after about 15 minutes i went up to collect & got told what they thought happened & i had to go to the stewards (no bcb over there) which i duly did, he heard the bookies story he heard others & i piped in'if i knew it had won why would i back it e/w' the steward agreed & ask when my bet was put on (3rd on list) he said pay him & take the name & addresses of the others    & later in the day i heard the call 9/4 & correct about this horse that was 12/1 so i had 100 e/w on it @ the 12/1 & it duly saluted by about 6 lenghts with one of the payne girls in the saddle
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway
