I went to school with the scovell's, can remember which one was in my year though, think it was Andrew

Didnt know Stuewy Shenton was caught up in drugs, I knew he left the scene quickly though and never knew why, he was a great caller...remember him with "All dressed up but catn find the party" call at least once a meeting...

John Oneil still is the announcer at the races, know his son well, a chip off the old block...

Does anyone remember the dog caller back in the mid 90's Jamie Braidwood or something similar? thought he was great

Dean Caporella I heard has quit Sky and off to the US chasing love...

Remember Stuart Shenton's very nasal tones well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was quite serious drug charges he was put inside for?

yes it was a serious charge, exactly what, i can't remember but the cops tapped his on-course phone in the broadcast box (remember no mobiles in those days & no phone calls allowed on course) as he was doing "whatever he was doing" from the 'safety' of the on-course phone in the broadcast box

Ray Fewings, a definate dope. Had a champion trotter in the making and treated him like a dog. My mate bought him $2,000 and won the youthful stakes at MV, plus plenty of build up races.

At the bar one night A guy offered my mate $40,ooo for the colt and he turned to me a said what should I do. I said ask the man what colour he would like him wrapped.

Fearless Quick didnt go on from that win and was gelded. A major mistake IMO.

No Graham White (and his brother Ken) cant remember the trainers name but he was a lazy prick and his wife was the real trainer.and this was 1980, so the memory fades. We did hit the bookies though and averaged $5.50 on the win. This group of South Aussies got a mention in the Sun next day.

At around that time brother and I had the lease option on a galloper Bachelors Choice but didnt take it up. *what fools)

In the late 70's my uncle was the largest private racehorse owner in the southern hemisphere, Harold Jury.Horses like Spanish Eyes, Ralkon etc.

trembath was the trainer when it went to victoria but obviously he didn't own it then, thanks for that

ps trembath was editor of the trotting weekly in that time, so he may've just left the wife to do
the training of the horses

Who was the SA racecaller (mainly dogs?) who left SA for TAS, & was their principal caller (if only on the dogs)?
Brett Neild? Is he still around?
