joe buttigieg to train a winner at the mt gambier gold cup

Postby bayman » Tue Jan 23, 2007 11:23 pm

joe will train a winner at the cup meeting on saturday night
horse.................trainer
1. indianna rose........brough
2. things to do..........buttigieg
3. nicky anvil............." "
4. live to love............" "
5. the juggernaut........" "
6. anvils just fine......." "

so there you go joe should train the winner he may even get the trifecta & if the 6 won would drive the winner as well

i know a professional punter (rd) who is going to the ararat cup on friday night onto the mt.gambier cup saturday, it was very tempting to go as well (good luck rd)

maybe / maybe not - his horses have a terrible record at the track (I would be more confident of Franco No Fear winning the $7k cup - due to prizemoney)... mind you with 5 in the race out of 6 in a $1200 race, it's possible..
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

Not a certainty - he would have to be about a $1.01 chance (given the 1 is an ant) - but still, the horses don't go good around there.. he has a very poor strikerate..

I'll talk offline re what i'll take = but given my position at the moment, you will be waiting a long time for a return from me..

I'd think my horse isn't a hope in hell of winning either - it's not easy to win from a paddock 50km away.... but that's life - she will be back racing in 8 - 10 weeks

They are always going to be ok there, because of the close access to Victoria - it's ok for the trainers around there to go to places like Terang etc cause it's not that far away and when they want to stay home and earn a quick $800 they can do it - so it's doing ok around there.. mind you Mt Gambier is the only track they race on..

i haven't heard that one but the last time & only time they had a grass race (in sa) it was at vic park & as horses went to a crossing horses shied allover the place which ended with 2 or 3 drivers in hospital & they said they'll never do that again & they held the "the grass track championships" in victoria but that to seems to have ceased over the last 2 or 3 years

ps up to about 8-10 years ago the richmond (nsw) paceway was a grass track, but it is now defunct

they closed down the track 8 years ago..... only had a handful of local trainers..... Gary Rawlings and Cotton came down from whyalla and they ran for $90 per race $60 first , $20 second, $30 third) ..... with 6 in a race on a sat arvo with about 10 spectators max..... it reminded me much of our breakfast meets over here......

it would never HAPPEN!!!!!
