Cricket World Cup

Postby Paul Nixon » Thu Mar 08, 2007 12:16 pm

Just had a look at some of the odds for the upcoming World Cup on Sportsbet. I really like the odds on Mohammad Yousuf to make the most runs in the tournament for Pakistan at 3.10. He is a run scoring machine and arguably the best batsman in the world(possibly equal of Ponting). Inzamam to me is the only threat at 4.50.

I like this sort of bet as it doesn't rely on just one innings where anything can happen.

Also the betting on who will win group A should obviously be out of Australia and Sth Africa. Not sure if we'll beat them at a neutral ground. I can't get that rediculous run chase in Sth Africa out of my head and think they could collar the likes of McGrath, Hogg, Watson, Tait etc. Any thoughts on the Cup boys?(Aust 1.6, SA 2.25)

Ponting most runs for the tournament @ $7 seems pretty good to me.... The aussies are a couple of batsmen short for the first few games, which means that he wont be rested and you would think that the aussies would go pretty far in the tournament... I have him as the last leg with a couple of mult bets already for some handy collects

Still think Australia will absolutely shit it in, but if not, Sth Africa are in pretty dominant form at the minute. Greame Smith is on fire, Pollock is only going for 20 of his ten, and AB is back in some sort of form. Ntini has been a little quiet in the last two ODI series, and if he comes back strong, look out.

i agree with your thoughts on south africa, looked mighty good in the recent one day series against the paki's, the only problem with south africa is AUSTRALIA and pressure, finals.

Yea agree with that, but if they dont play against Australia in the finals, that might be less of a factor.

Is it just me or is Hogg decent value @ $13 to be aus leading wicket taker.
Also think Murali is good value for Sri Lanka at $3.25

For whats its worth I think he is an outstanding bowler in o/d internationals.
And half a chance at those odds as well
Its no coincidence we are losing when HOGGY is not taking wickets

Brian Lara to go out in a last hurrah and top the tournament runs at $21. As for the winner, keep coming back to India there; still not convinced on Australia's ability to bounce back just yet, and India look to have the least flaws (can set a target and usually defend it, although like most, prone to collapses)
