Camera positions in all codes

Postby another grub » Mon Mar 26, 2007 2:21 pm

Anyone got any thoughts on the camera positioning at any of the venues..... any codes...

I like the Ascot stewards tower on the home turn about the 400m..... it gives you a great insight as how your horse is travelling and what is happening.....

whats that track in country Vic where you can only see flashes of the race in the home straight in between the umbrella shades (low camera position)...... scoob u know the one..... could be Camperdown or somewhere like that.....

Cairns is a shocker when they have their TAB meets.....

In the Trots, Bulli would have to be the WORST, shocking camera angle to go with
the shocking track. Albion park s camera angle fools a lot of punters as well in close finishes
as u have to bring the inside horses up a fair bit. I find Gloucester Park is a very true angle
in tight finishes but the track is shit.
The split screen they use for NZ trots in F%#$ing annoying, adds nothing to the telecast.

In the Gallops, Sha Tin in Hong Kong is by far and away the best for picking a tight finish as
they use a process called shutter cam which involves showing a slow mo replay frame by frame
with a line superimposed accross the screen. this is done within about 10 seconds after race and
u can always see the winner before the judge semaphores the placings.
Buggered if i know why they dont do this with Aussie race broadcasts.

this has been a bug bear for me for a while....how hard can it be to put the camera position right on the line??? there was even a new track recently (cant remember where) and they still didt have it on the line...you would thinkw hen designing a grandstand/track one of the thing your would think of is to put the cameraman right on the line...its little things like this that can actually lose people from the sport

Yep, the 200, 400 m lines r great as well especially when ur on the leader.
Its like the countdown clock in footy, ur just in front and ur screaming like hell
for the siren to blow or the winning post to appear.
