Advantage of betting early in the week on AFL/SANFL

Postby Dutchy » Sun Apr 29, 2007 12:58 am

I logged into my Sportsbet account and found an extra $72.50 than I expected in there, looked at the North Adelaide bet I put on and I got back $72.50 from my $100- invested as the draw was classed as a dead heat!!!! confused I looked up their rules and if there is no draw market offered, which there isnt early in the week, you get the dead heat rule which is your bet return halved!

Beauty!...

Bugger, I didn't get anything back for the $5 I put on North on Thursday, that'll teach me to be a cheap skate! :D

PS Bet only made to qualify for extra prizes on footy trends.

I always thought that in H2H betting that a drawn game = 50% of face value of the ticket.
The draw is a different bet & only applies for betting 1-39.

Actually, the above is correct- the %'s are worked out 2 results only (in this case (North win or South win). Soccer is different, as they frame their markets with 3 outcomes- win/draw/win.

SPORTSBET Rules -

62. Where the draw option is offered, the bet is decided on the result at the end of normal time (i.e. extra time – an extension of normal time – not included). For Margin betting, the Draw option is always offered, although in other betting options where the draw option is not offered, The Dead Heat Rule applies

Draw option is not offered in early markets hence the DH rule applies...thank god!!!

CENTREBET -

When the draw option is offered, the bet is decided on the result at the end of normal time (i.e. extra time - an extension of normal time - not included). When the draw option is not offered, the The Dead Heat Rule applies.

exactly the same!!!...cant find TAB Sportsbet rules

agree different rules for every sport, Ice Hockey dont have draws, they have shoot outs to determine winner if drawn after OT

BUT its improtant to note that all the bookies I can see operate on the above rule...if the Draw is offered when placing the footy bet and the result is a Draw you will lose your money...as I said I had a multi with Sydney, WCE, North and Aussies winning and it lost becuase I put it on Friday when the Draw bet was an option

ive had multis and bets with Johnny and a draw has been a result and got half my money back, the bet was placed on a friday when the draw bet was an option. Thornton has a sign (did have recently) all draws are $51.
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

The draw is assumed part of the margin betting prices with most bookies. So,in the event of a draw,
head to head bets are paid half as it is deemed a dead heat.

ie if you back a side 1-39, a draw is a losing bet for you.

Correct,in your e.g the draw is a losing bet,as it did not fall into the quoted margin.
The draw is not part of head to head betting in football matches,so dead heat rule
applies - the same as a tie in a one day cricket match.
