Tigers firm for win

0 & 9, so why are Tigers $1.87?

Winless after nine games, an embarrassing record loss to Geelong, the worst percentage, and fans climbing up the walls! Yet embattled 1000/1 rank outsider Richmond has opened a $1.87 favourite on Centrebet to beat Brisbane in the round 10 clash at the Telstra Dome on Saturday!

In fact, never in the history of AFL/VFL has a team at $1001.00 (1000/1) to win the flag gone into a club match as an odds-on favourite! “It’s staggering, but the writing could be on the wall that number 10 is the drought-breaker,” Centrebet’s Neil Evans said. “All Tigers are still in shock they let Essendon through the back door at the MCG when they had it won. But the Lions collapsed in the last quarter to Collingwood at the GABBA, and we feel Brisbane is inferior away from home.”

The Lions, who have blown from $51.00 to $126.00 in premiership betting in the past couple of weeks, have opened a narrow $1.91 outsider on Centrebet to win the game!

The AFL’s other winless team Melbourne, beaten in a heart-wrenching one-point thriller by the Kangaroos, has opened a $2.70 outsider against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium, while Geelong has opened at its shortest price all season - $1.31 to beat St Kilda ($3.40) at the Telstra Dome!

I cannot believe this statement would be true.

There would be a number times towards the end of a season when a team around positions 10-11 would still have a remote mathematical chance of making the finals and be around 1000/1, and then go into a game odds on favourite when they were playing a team below them on the ladder.

Richmond $1001 to win the flag WTF??? they should be $100,001
Adelaide are unders at $6.50, they win a few on the trot and everyone jumps on the bandwagon, they've got a long way to go yet beating Brisbane, Richmond (just) and Carlton mean sweet FA.
