Lance and SOKYOLA

Postby G » Sun Jun 17, 2007 1:24 am

Now that the old champ has chalked up a farewell win in Adelaide what about Lance pulling the pin on his farewell race next week at the Valley. Instead of him going around and making up the numbers next week let him bow out with tonights win.
Perhaps he could lead the field out and do a lap of honour or something but let him retire with a WIN next to his name.-any thoughts ?

Spot on G

only way he could win a race at the valley is if they float the same field over. Also they better make sure paul cavallaro goes as well because anyone who seen the race tonight knows he won the race for lance by getting him going.

How About Keeping him in Work for another 6 Months and race him at Globe Derby for every week to pick up another 23 wins to bring up the Ton. He's only 10yo, Village kid was still Dominating WA as a 12yo but i do agree having his final run at the Valley is pointless and has little hope of winning Esp. if he draws the 2nd row as the Valley is more of a leaders Track than Gawler.

Its actually a winable race for SOKY. The only horse I can see holding him out for the lead would possibly be The Warp Drive and if he rolled to the top, just might be able to hang on. Mind you I havent done the form for the race yet :D

Great win..... Im a little shocked he didnt get any pressure mid race and that they handed up the lead to him so easy at the start..... I think they may have been a little kind to the champ..... 161 starts for 78 wins...... Bye old fella...thanks for the memories....... :D

Yeah... I thought it was pretty obvious bayman.... for the 4 to hand up the lead which it had never done before when they had clashed.... and for scruffy to sit back last for so long was suprising   .....

Things like that don't happen at the trots

MT - everyone at Moonee Valley I spoke to throught it was a boat race and everyone I walked past was talking about it being a boat race...

I didn't back him, in fact I backed Scruffy, but since then I've had a good think about the race and maybe it wasn't as big a boat race as people were saying on Friday night - on times he had to win, he went 63 the first half and home in a tick over 56 (not many would get around him going 56 last halves) At the end of the day there was no death seat pressure ever going to come...
1 THE PHANTOMS GUEST - Over-rated claimer at best
2 BRAESIDE SEEL STAR - 1st up and isn't free for all class anymore
3 SCRUFFY MURPHY - 1 trick pony... sit-sprint
4 THE WARP DRIVE - 1st up and 2100m may not have suited, didn't want to get into a speed burn and once crossed was never going to come off the fence
5 SOKYOLA - was primed for his last race
6 JAY PEES RULER - WA form generally doesn't match up
7 SEQUOIAHS SPIRIT - 1 trick pony... sit-sprint

At the end of the day I lost on the race, but wasn't disappointed to see the old boy win!
