NEW SKY CHANNEL ADELAIDE CUP FORMAT

The GRSA has approved a change to the 2008 Sky Channel Adelaide Cup. This follows support for the new format at last month’s ICG meeting. Over the last couple of years there has been a three race format with a seeding system. Some greyhounds that were seeded, elected to run on only the second and third nights of the carnival. The new format will see all greyhounds having to run over the three weeks.

The format will be as follows:

- All greyhounds will be required to compete in two races prior to the Final i.e. they will be required to compete on the heat night and semi-final night.

- On the heat night the top 4 seeded greyhounds from interstate and top 4 from South Australia will compete in the Interstate Challenge (plus 2 reserves). All other greyhounds nominated will have to run in the Adelaide Cup Heats. There can be up to 10 heats.

- Interstate Challenge is decreased to $10,000 from $21,500.

- The 8 greyhounds that run in the Challenge are seeded through to the Adelaide Cup Semis, while the remaining 24 spots will be determined by the heat performances.

- Dates and Prize money:

2008 2007

10/01/08 – Interstate Challenge x 1 $10,000 $21,500
Cup Heats x (up to 10) @ 3,000 $30,000 $17,600

17/01/08 – Cup Semis x 4 @ 6,000 $24,000 $16,000

24/01/08 – AdelaideCup Final x 1 $75,000 $66,000

Total $139,000 $121,100

Prize money to the winner of the Sky Channel Adelaide Cup will increase to $56,500 from $50,000. In 2010, AGRA has determined that Group One events will be required to pay prize money to the winner of $75,000. The Interstate Challenge will lose its Group status as part of this change.

Yes as MT said I suggested this in 2002 to the club, my suggestion was that any dog over 3 & 1/2 years and over 50 starts in SA would be elligible....my dog qualified at the time, but there were also plenty of older dogs that punters loved and would have been great to see them all go around together....the older dogs are ones that punters become to love for their endrurance and there are races for young dogs so why not veterans???

how long has Craig Cook been a stooge for the serial complainers.

I am referring to his little piece about the dog radio show starting late which is obviously a crack at the shows host for being late.
Im not sure if he is happy to have a crack or is just having a crack for Mama Kelly.

Realistically who cares if vg is a few minutes late, he is unpaid and makes a massive trip into town first thing in the morning to host the show, which no one else will host.

Its ironic Craig Cook wants to crack him why isnt he hosting the show anymore because it didn't pay well enough.

Craig Cook has his head up his ask scoob he knows him well, they often eat in the chasers restuarant.....

I never heard the show before VG took over.

Craig Cook I mean really, does anybody remember the article he wrote about the forum at angle park back in May '05, it was so biased it wasnt funny. Im sure he wasnt at the same meeting that me and Mal attended.
