400M RACES
------------

The hot gos is the consensus wants 400 metre races held at Angle Park
This is good for the trainers of speedy squibs in placing of dogs
As a spectacle in my opinion 400m races are boring
If the meetings have several 400m races per night I will give up punting on dogs
The mixing of distances only makes form evaluation more difficult from a punting perspective
The club needs to have more 731m races which are exciting races as dogs
can come from behind and win, 400m races its follow the leader.

R8-2 SKULL MURPHY
Ist run back from injury was slow out and ran on in a slow 30-22 for this dog
2nd up it jumped with them + then accerlerated quickly
only 4-53 to the turn and then zoomed in 16-90 and an ok 29-83
should be cherry ripe

R9-4 KEYCARD
Since going to the Troy Murray kennell has improved a few lengths
Ran a PB of 43-39 which would win this
Is resuming from a 5 week break
might be a run short

Good luck and fingers crossed no 400m races

the NATIONALS start tomorrow night

across the country there are 223 sprinters and 117 stayers nominated

interesting to note that WA has the 2nd highest sprint nominations of all the states behind VIC.

while here in SA we have the 2nd highest STAYER nominations once again behind VIC.

there are a few dogs that are double-nominated for both the sprints and stayer events.

should be a great series

SA did good last year
BOTHING won the distance Championship
TEN TORNADOS ran 4th in the sprint race
This years crop of dogs look incapable of winning
Next year might de different with KJ + JR training

SKULL MURPHY is my choices to get through
but would need luck to win a final

400m races at ANGLE Park should be on a wednesday morning if they are to have them.

if they bring in the 400m, then they should bring in the blink and miss races as well

Had a mate point this out to me for tonights heats of the National Sprint Championship.

In the 4 heats there is only 7 runners
Box 5 is a vacant box in all 4 heats
He said he was extremely disapointed as he likes betting EW + Concession
Truthfully he has now declined to attend a meeting he proposed to go to.

There are 28 dogs in the 4 heats
Having 3 heats would mean 4 dogs would miss out
Surely the admin knows this is an embarrasment and should have made enquiries
to entice another 4 dogs to be nominated. ????
Its not that hard they rang several trainers for noms when some leading trainers
boycotted a meeting several months ago, and filled up these races

I am also perturbed how the sprint championships can have 7 dog fields
Not enough dogs ????
Lets hope Kimmy Johnstone and Jeffrey Ryles can help out next year .....

On a positive note considering how many distance races we have[too few]
the club must be delighted filling up 3 heats

I noticed the amsll fields when i was doing the form and thought it was quite unusual.

KEY CARD won a 731 m heat
SKULL MURPHY ran 2nd in the sprint[missed the start again, risky proposition since the injury]
Both go to the SA final next week

I mentioned we have KJ + JR to bolster things up for 2008
Well I am delighted to see KJ train MAGNOLIA DRIVE to victory in race 2

DUTCHY why do you 400m races ?
I have talked to about 10 people about it all said they dont want them

Not a big rap for the 400m races at HQ, it just deminishes the 515,600 & 715 races...I dont mind it in the bush to start your young dogs over but not at HQ, if they do though I find them good to lay favs on BF, if you see Ipswich Dogs you will know what I mean

if we are to have 400m races at HQ, have them on a wednesday morning, not on a monday or thursday night......
