i know its fun to pay the bookies out (we all do) but as i've said on another post & that was if i were a bookie i'd be putting my prices up on friday morning after seeing the teams, so in that regard csb does it correctly, except for the fact all they do is put the favourite up a bit shorter than everyone else anyway, even if they think they should be shorter

Id put them up on Monday mornings.
I always make much more accurate assessment of the next Rounds games as soon as the previous round's finished.
I find that when I look into things like players in and out and start comparing positions, etc my picks go pear shape.

Ive actually experimented over the last few years testing out this theory in footy tipping comps and every year the comp that I make the picks on Mondays always beat the total score in the comp that I pick on Fridays, usually by about 15 picks!

Ive used this to my advantage with AFL betting not having a losing year this century!

Dutchy wrote:agree Wedgie, smart bookies will put markets up early, by going up early they are open to risks but those risks can go both ways, it also gives them an opportunity to adjust their markets according to the early money to balance their books, he ones that open late dont get that opportunity, I believe that we put to much emphasis on ins and outs, unless its 2 or more key players or there are 5-6 changes it doesnt make that much difference (i.e. Roos had a better record without Carey than with!)

mal wrote:Hey Dutch if you wuz a SANFL bookie when would you open up your market ?
I would open up Friday
I would know the ins and outs
I would know what AFL players are in and out of the teams

SANFL bookies that open up early are at a clear disadvantage

AFL bookies should open up early as with media saturation and live telecasts
of most games they would know who is injured
There is no headache of the AFL/SANFL interchange

DUTCHY always remember the bookie you win off is not the best bookie.
The bookie that lays the least amount of winners and most losers is the best.

When a firm bets the best odds for a winning team I call that bookie inferior

Dutchy wrote:extremely hard to tell unless you can see the bookies records, no one know for sure who is making the most money unless you can see each of the bookies records....Sportsbet provide great service by opening up their markets early, for all we know they may make more money doing this than opening them up on Friday, on here we have found a few gifts but we are a small minority.....example they opened Glenelg at $1.75 last week, they drifted to $2.50, all the bets they took at $1.75 was to their advantage as the market changed during the week, they would have balanced their books nicely and probably got to a situation where they would have won on both results, they would not have had that opportunity if they had opened on Friday....

to be honest because Sportsbet offer this early service Im more inclinced to bet with them all the time even if Im taking a worse price...they are prepared to take some risks to get business, its a customer service business at the end of the day

mal wrote:DUTCHY
If SPORTSBET were offering shares in thier SANFL business, how many shares would you buy ?

They would get listed as the ALL ORDINARIES

Being the best odds is not being the best SANFL bookmaker

Dutchy wrote:agree to disagree Mal, best bookmaker for me is the one who provides Online service and early markets!

Its called putting things in perspective
*********This is just my betting activities with all 3 firms***********
COMPLETESPORTSBETTING/THORNTON/SPORTSBET
SANFL discussion only

PUNTERS VIEW
a bookie who puts up the best odds for the punters winning bets
In that regard SPORTSBET are appearing to be the best.

BOOKIES VIEW
a bookie who puts up the best odds on the winners and makes a loss
In that regard SPORSTBET are appearing to be the worst bookies.

BOOKIES VIEW
a bookie who puts up the best odds for the losers and makes a profit
In that regard COMPLETESPORTSBETTING appears to be the best bookie

BOOKIES VIEW
a bookie who CHEATS off another bookie
In that regard THORNTON is the best + worst bookie

Simple philosphy for me
I bet with the bookie who bets the best odds
If Im always winning with the same one, that bookie is the most incompetent at setting a market.

PS : That could all change depending on who bets what in the future.

Im just talking about my bets with the 3 firms DUTCHY
My previous post is from my perspective only

If all the bets I had with them were losing
Then I would consider them to be the best bookies

PS I dont know anyone who is losing with them YET
Draw your own conclusions

Winners tend to gloat about their bets.
Losers tend to run and hide.
If someone was losing with Sportsbet, we would be unlikely to know about it.

ALL the bets everyone has put on with them that I know about before the event started
are all miles in front, as per emails, phone, private messages
I cant vouch for any bets those people have had without my knowledge

I know of several people who are succeeding
2 of those people are ECKY + MAL ...

agree MT, there is plenty of "Mugs money" out there that they would gobble up Im sure...anyway a smart punter will have access to all 4 bookies so they can take the best odds/line for what they like

CS seem to have very high % this week

Interesting to note Sportingbet have a competitve market also and have Centrals at $1.04!!, they also have West at $2.25 and they are $2.15 everywhere else, I was hoping they would drif tto $2.50 to make them a bet for me,,,,

centrals/South game

CS - 107%
Sportingbet - 106%
Thornton - 106%
Sportsbet - 105%

I know where I would bet!....CS have South at $9.25 - give them a chance?

One of the best bookmakers in South Australia is Peter Dammerell at the trots
I cant beat him, he makes me back the horses he wants to lay, hes too good for me

He also beats me at the puppys as well.
