Last year there was a discussion on the merits of punting on A2s.
I backed a $130 A2 at the trots which was considered quite rightly as a fluke
The consensus was that with the small pools that A2s were a waste of time.

Well Ive kept my records for the year 2007 on my A2 bets
I can raise the bat I have hit the $1000 profit.

How?

The pools are smalL
AND I bet small
My maximum investment is $5 per combination

If I bet $5 in a small pool of say $300 I can extract a $3 dividend [100 units on the winning combo]
If I bet $50 on the combination the dividend would be $2 [150 units on the winning combo]

Why I win ?
Because the big punting pros like G/JJ/BAYMAN cant be stuffed betting $2 to $5 on a A2
So the pros dont take A2s [cant blame them at all]
So Im left betting into a small pool against MUGS


Moral of the story ?

Small pools usually incorporate smaller punters who are invariably mugs [except me ]

bring back the 50 cent units hey MAL.......

MAL loves the 25c pick 4, hes just annoyed you still have to spend a minimum of a $1.

as ive said previously mal i agree with teh above and tonight is always the best time to go with them as thats when the sa punters are least active so entire pools can be taken with only a couple of dollars outlayed

yes this is one of my fav betting options,
escpec if you do not have a lot to play with.
i use them as savers for my win bet or my quin/exacta bets.
most times recouping any loss on the others.
pools of 300 to 500 give a good percentage to oulay return.

With three wins on the A2 in each race, how do they work out the dividend for each option? I understand how it works for the win or trifecta, but A2 I assume is different.

The same way they work out 3 Place Dividends.

They take out their Commission from the pool then divide the balance by 3, then divide that by the number of winning combinations.
