must be... As he puts it he was 91 short of 100 for the bays. which i find a little bit amusing.

I had Clifford John but without a DOB, I haven't been able to confirm one way or another - Does anyone have a whereabouts for C J Williams?

With the sad demise of Mark Beswick is anyone updating the list of every player who has played SANFL?

I have a couple of corrections that I can advise.

e.g. George Czaja South and George Chyer South are the same person. He played in the early to mid 1970s and changed his name by deed poll to anglicise his name.

It will take a long time to update this all, and clean up the list. I've already made a few alterations to it, but there's a lot lot more to go.

One example of such alterations is the J.W Harvey (Sturt, 1947) and this player are the same:

https://nafc.com.au/history/search?type ... 826de6ea99

He played 3 games for Sturt, then was de-registered after making a false declaration on a permit to play for them:

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/arti ... 20football

North still refused a clearance for the next year; he played only 2 matches for them in 1948.

Thanks - I'm in the near future going to post every player I have on my list from 1899 to 2021 (sometime I'll add 2022 debutants to it)

This list currently has 10,009 players on it, but there are 105 players on it who I don't have a DOB for, nor any idea when they actually played, and I suspect some of them were names suggested right from the early days of this list, but only played reserves or not even that. Possibly some were meant to be other players (eg. Paul McGann is Peter McGann) All of them are either Central or South players. So, perhaps you could tell me if any of the following did (and when) or didn't play league?:

Benjamin Bell Central
John Bennett Central
Dean Bonutto Central
Bruce Browne South
Sam Butler Central
Bob Carroll Central
John Chapman South
John Christie South
Graham Clarke South
N Clarke South
John Cleworth South
S Clift South
William Cockburn South

I suspect if some of them did play league, it would be within the 1955 to 1974 period, as this is when it is out of the Trove newspaper scope (after 1954) or before the Football Times and other yearbooks I have - I do have a 1960 and 1973 publications with some (not all) DOB in them.

Sam Butler....that would be Sam Butler who played alot of footy at West Coast so should be able to find out his date of birth pretty easy.

Actually, not sure if he played or league or not. He definitely won a reserves premiership.

Pretty sure Scott isn't Sam but no idea if he played league. I played on Scott when he was about 15-16 and he gave me quite the touch up.

Many thanks for filling in the blanks, but are you able to give me any more info on these five? As I have the round by round games and goals for these years, I need to confirm that:
-Dohnt (do you know how many games he played, I've looked through trove and all I can see is B Grade references)
-Venning played only the opening two matches of 1952 (I have this currently as Reginald W Venning who also played in 1949-50)
-Hywood, Menzel and Wadewitz only played night series matches

One more thing, I know the following played; are you able to give me a year?

Barry Kotz South 60s
Robert Lane South 60s
Peter Livesey South 60s
Bruce Rehn South 60s
H James Matthews South 70s

By the looks of it no; only was 17 in 2003, then was drafted to WC. I don't have any record on my games record list, the only Butler around the time was Ricky who played 2 matches the following year. There was also Nick Butler who played for Port in 2004-05.

Ok what era do you think the Sam Butler you have from your list is on.....

IIRC i don't think Sam did play league before being drafted. I tend to recall he was somewhat of a surprise selection given there was a fair few other young lads that had played league and Sam hadn't.

Useless information the Rick Butler you mentioned was my best man at my wedding.

The name was probably suggested by someone when it was initially a question I asked back in the FootySA days. So it's probably the WC player (who would have debuted the year before the list was initially created)

So, just as a test, I'll post how I have the first 80 names on the list as it appears on the spreadsheet. The problem is, I'll need to do another 124 of these to cover the 9964 players. I thought I might like to show how this could be displayed and what you might prefer
