Passing of Peter Anderson

Postby tigersarego » Wed Jan 30, 2019 12:30 pm

Peter Anderson passed away on Friday 4th January 2019, Peter played 81 games for Glenelg between 1972 to 1975 and was full back in the 1973 premiership team. In all he played 224 league games and kicked 137 goals for North Adelaide, Glenelg and Woodville between 1964 to 1978.

The 1973 Glenelg side was a great side, only loosing one game that year that being to North Adelaide who the Tigers played in the Grand Final, i remember 1973 well the Tigers were a very high scoring side, huge crowds at the Bay Oval in those days, i was about 14 years old and use to go to all their games.

Cheers
Mark

He was a maginficent defender for much of his 4 seasons at Glenelg but for most of his 8 seasons at North he was a tall on baller or key forward. It was only in August of 1971 that he moved to defence for North when Kevin Barr suffered a very serious, excrutiating injury.
As good as he was as a defender, I always thought his best football was played running around the ground with a lot of leap, high marking and long kicking.
As a young player he was exceptionally athletic

Why did he leave North to play at Glenelg as he had just played in a Premiership side???
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Worked out well for him will always be remembered as one of the 1973 immortals at the Bay

Won a premiership at the Bay, but missed out on a premiership and a Champions of Australia at North.
