That photo is of the famous side which defeated Victoria by 7 points at the MCG in 1963.

One selection from that Norwood team that puzzled me greatly was that Roger Woodcock was only 19th man (remember there was no interchange) What the hell was a player of Woodcock's ilk doing being selected as 19th man. He was 22 years of age at that stage so it wasn't inexperience that caused him to sit on the bench. One of the strangest selections in a final that I can remember.

If you look to the right, there is a woman with a North scarf who appears to be booing (under the umbrella). Not very nice.

I think she's telling the lads in school uniform to the left to pull their heads in, particularly the one third from the left who seems quite animated. That's my excuse. ;)

The kid third from the left looks like a young Don Dunstan.... who has apparently “sat” on something.

He’s getting ready to hold the tide back at Glenelg.

Perhaps the best footballer along with Peter Darley never to have won a Magery Medal. Good bloke,

Peter Darley told me that playing with David Kantilla opened up his eyes to what was right and what was wrong (seeing how he was treated).

And by the end of the 50's Port Adelaide will have won 7 premierships, 6 of them in a row and established itself as the most successful senior football club in the country.

Fos would coach 9 premierships and play in 7.

Mark would play in 4.

Stephen would coach 3 and play in 6.

17 premierships on field and 12 premierships as coaches. Good appointment, Bob.
