Anything to do with the history of the SANFL

bespectacled footballers

Postby Pseudo » Sat Mar 05, 2022 6:51 pm

Having a heated discussion with a port mate at the Watermark this arvo.

Who was the last bespectacled player to take the field in the SANFL?

I remember a Central player in specks, but can't remember the name.

My port mate reckons it was Paul Merret #29.

Who was it, and were there any other notable specky players in the league?

Moved to Glenelg, wanted to play for Glenelg but Nicholls wouldn’t have him. Ended up playing for Port in the ‘77 GF, beating Glenelg. Played a couple of reserves games for Glenelg in 1980 before becoming an assistant coach when Campbell then Cornes were in charge.
