Alan Stringer's Man Cave/Scrapbook

Postby Wedgie » Sun Jun 12, 2022 6:42 pm

I had the pleasure of meeting Alan Stringer last week, a great bloke (never thought I'd say that when I was abusing him in the 80s from the other side of the fence) who has some great yarns to tell. Alan even allowed me to have a look around his man cave which he is putting together and take some snaps with my phone to show some on here will enjoy them. The first pic is Alan and I in my mum's shed and the rest of the pics are all various things in his man cave or out of a scrapbook his wife put together in the 80s. It's only a small part of his treasure trove, I could have spent days in there! I'm sure many will enjoy this especially Bays fans.

BSR footy club includes many people from Koolunga as the closest club to the town. Many many stories about the Stringer boys in all of these pubs for both their on field and off field antics.

Two what if questions I've often wondered:

1. If Marker wasnt injured (busted ankle) would we have won 77 given he always played well against Ebert and would Ebert have got those three goals in the last quarter?

2. If Alan Stringer played in XXXX (I refuse to mention the year) would his starch and ball winning ability got us over the line?

But they didnt and we didnt so its a moot point, history books tell the real story.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Q1. Yes. He was our best player. Would've made a huge difference.

Q2. I'm curious about the year? We came second a lot!
