SACA are expecting all the stars to play. Will be star studded teams. Don't think Spencer be playing though. Bays could have Doggett, Conway, McSweeney. Couple of regulars be pi55ed off not getting to play on Adelaide Oval in a Grand Final, but I suppose that's life  Alex Carey any chance??

Wouldn't have thought Carey would be available even if the test finished on Saturday.
Chuck in Pengelly and no doubt will be a couple of pi55ed off local lads, if this occurs hopefully it doesn't disable the playing group culture.
If McSweeney, Doggert, Conway and Pengelley play, the unlucky ones could come out of Bullimore, Irvine, Higgins, Bowering, (all local).
Top 4 would be winter, mcinerney, mcsweeney and scott. they have bowled mcinereny as one of the spin options.
Don't envy the selectors with this one if all available!.

Glenelg deserve to lose having two bats in different coloured pads

Smith and Capel's magnificent opening partnership set up the win and Glenelg's calamitous first 2 overs batting clinched the game for the Eagles. Reminded me of a similar calamitous result for Glenelg in an Eagles v Glenelg game in 2021... the SANFL grand final.

Not sure the seahorses could have put anymore balls in the Eagles batsmen's hitting zones
Anyway not sure why Buckingham's wicket celebration was cut from the highlights reel

Agree, Doggett bowled terribly, I know you have to pick Redbacks players but he had not played any games they were dominating in and changed the team dynamic.

Don't think SACA were too happy with the celebration and the look of the game, so they may have taken it down for that reason. He was getting absolutely hammered by the Glenelg crowd (players) where he was fielding on the boundary so just gave it back to them. May have been given talking too afterwards.

Buckingham is building a reputation of being a dickhead.

Buckingham's response was a reportable offence that apparently went unpunished by the umpires. I imagine someone took note of that in head office and had a few words.

In the penultimate over of the match there was a caught behind appeal where the Torrens Wicket-keeper gave the T Sign for a DRS review too. Seems like a strange thing to do when you have a team 9 for 60 chasing 200.

Absolute crap from a sore loser.

Couldn't meet a nicer or more genuine person. Always puts the club first and NEVER dodges a match when available.
Always puts in extra for the club.
One of the Western Eagles best ever recruits.

Happens all the time - umpires don't have the guts pick on the "name" players but happy to book other lesser lights for much lighter offences.

Not as strange as this letter to Glenelg members back in 2016.

To all present and past players, managers, volunteers & supporters

As you all know SACA have nominated the Port Adelaide and West Torrens District Cricket Clubs as the two Club from which one will be eliminated from the 1st Grade (A Grade) competition in 2016/17, unless a meger of the two clubs is achieved.

The State Government is planning to establish a parliamentary committee to investigate the proposed merger in the Premier Cricket competition on May 18th.

We feel that this committee will unfairly target the Glenelg District Cricket Club and only cause more angst and pain in the local cricket community.

We are confident about Glenelg's position as a standalone club. Glenelg has elite players, a world-class ground and a strong community of people who love this club.

It is not the role of government to tell us to merge or close. No one spoke to us about the government's plans and our voice has deliberately been ignored up to this point.

How can you help us stop this?

Contact your state MP, the Government and Opposition and tell them that you oppose the committee.

Government Minister for Sport Leon Bignell: ministerleonbignell@sa.gov.au and 8226 1210

Opposition Shadow Minister for Sport Tim Whetstone: chaffey@parliament.sa.gov.au and 8582 4230

We appreciate your support in this matter and look forward to competing in the new season of the 12 team Premier league competition.

Regards,

Alan Scholz
