Anyone see the score from the Melbourne Premier cricket final?

Carlton vs Casey South Melbourne.

3 day game at Windy Hill Essendon.

South Melbourne 212
Carlton 171
South Melbourne 209
Carlton 3 for 253 off 30.4 Overs to win the game outright

I sometimes wonder whether a 3 day final would work here in Adelaide.

Isn't SA the only state to not have a first grade GF as a 3 day game?

They use to play it as a 3 day game, then stopped it for some reason

You would play Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Think I heard that there was 4 player reports from the Grand Final.
Dissent towards umpires decisions
And a send off also by a Glenelg player.

Frustration at its finest!

Conor McInerney would be the send off you would think, watch the Isaac Conway dismissal and he runs all the way over from slip to get in his face. Carder can be seen complaining to the umpire. That behaviour is not acceptable at all.

Agree would be Friday to Sunday like Victoria. Puts a lot of pressure though on players, supporters, volunteers etc to get day off work. Can’t see it happening anytime soon.

Wasn’t it previously a three day final 20 years ago on AO?

Use to be a 3rd day as a reserve day, which was often used, about 20 odd years ago. Monday was the reserve day.

With 8 teams, the schedule would work to have a 3-day comp (Sat/Sat/Sun) all season. Then a 4-day final Sat/Sun/Sat/Sun. Play each other once. Wouldn't need any more Sundays than currently scheduled.

20 years ago Adelaide needed a 3rd day to bowl TTG out due the losing the final session on the Sunday to rain....

Reckon it stopped a couple years before when Kensington batted for 2 days and Jason Morgan (?) made 244 not out. Made the front page of the Advertiser.

Is the reserve day still in the by laws for A grade? Maybe it is for all grades?

Years ago it was if the required overs couldn't be bowled over both days due to rain, bad light and there was no result in the game everyone came back Monday.

I remember Sturt beating Northern Districts in maybe 2011 due to rain on day 2.
Maybe they should just play the day 3 regardless.

There was a Sturt vs Port semi final A few years ago that was weather affected and the teams had to cone back on Monday unexpectedly. Some obscure bylaw that no one was aware of

A bunch of players desperately trying to get work off at late notice!

I think it got changed after that

Yeah McInerney one not a good look, umpires didn't say anything to the Ocean Pony's or player after play on the day.
Not sure what was worse McInerney or Buckingham on T20 final.

Probs to Pt A completely outplayed Glenelg. Scored the required runs on Sunday pretty easily (6 overs).

Long time ago Adelaide played Glenelg on a Monday in the C Grade at Kings Reserve as lost some play due to rain on the Sunday (if memory is correct). Dizzy was playing in that game as well!

Well unfortunately another dispointing day for Glenelg. to make 3 finals is a great effort but it seemed that in all 3 GFs the oppositions best player s stood up and ours didnt. Benton especially was exceptional on day 1. agree with Eagles definitely a failed season with no flags to show especially finishing so far ahead in the 2 day comp.
im sure the team and coach will be hurting and now the next job is to ward off the inevitable raid of players with adelaide I believe already being very active in recruitment on players from a number of clubs might be a few former buffs looking to return home from around the place.

Buffalos would be silly to not gauge interest in those at rival Division 1 clubs in returning.

Given they finished 3rd in Division 2 and won the promotion final and had a good day in the final not sure they could sustain a whole season.

Wouldn't be surprised if Sturt at least made an enquiry with Higgins after the weekend? Don't know whether anything would eventuate given the lad has been at Glenelg since Ray Sutton Shield, however there is a connection there with his dad being a past Sturt premiership player. Unfortunately when you load up with imports that have less passion for the club than locals, and in a lot of cases, are only there for the money, this is the end result.

You would think so. Especially with the close relationship with the coach. Of course, he’d be welcome at the Eagles as well where his Dad is also a club legend!

His Dad was not a happy chappy that's for sure! You would say the lad will be delisted by Redbacks, so a fresh start may be good for him. He has looked like he had the world on his shoulders this year every time he got out and not enjoying it at all. Was an Aussie Under 19 player, needs to go back to enjoying himself again as has so much talent. At least his bowling has come on massively this season which is handy for him.

Think the Buckingham one was worse, and that started the massive increase in reports since with SACA staff spewing nothing was done.

Agree C Horse, the Bays batters let them down. First half of year most of them were not getting much of a bat, top couple were just dominating, then when needed in GF's they did not perform. Ugly reading looking at stats from the three games:

Winter 9,0,0
McSweeney 24, 3, 1
Scott 10,0,15
Mcinerney 20,12,1
Irvine 0,2,DNP
Bullimore 13,8 (and 112* in One day cup was amazing)
Higgins 3,41, DNP
