Before this game he did have an average of 25 in A Grade district cricket.

It was his first A Grade district cricket innings and was unluckily out hit wicket for 25.

His form in other games and representative cricket this year has been very good.

16 year old kid hits 183* in his second A Grade game, he is an absolute jet and a great kid.

I’ll keep my opinion

Did well in the recent Under 19's championships in Tassie.

I work with his mum, they're very level headed, I look forward to his progress over the next few years.

Was playing in the 3rds back in November.....scored a couple of tons at national carnival level before yesterday.

I see they were playing a AO number 2. Can only assume that ground has gotten considerably smaller since Gordon Greenidge forced the cancellation of several Saturday afternoon tennis matches in 1985!

Prospect a worry. All out 109, now following on vs East Torrens. Only one batter in double figures. They've had strong juniors for a while but it takes a long while for that to filter up to senior success if there's not a senior core for the kids to develop around.

I have always hated the 0/0 declarations to set up ten points for second innings. Should be banned.

If Adelaide can get the points then Glenelg need to beat Kensy outright next week to avoid going down to Div 2. And if TTG get them could get the home semi final.

I know there is nothing in the rules to stop it, but declaring at 4/78 is crap. Not fair on other teams in the comp.

LBW last decision too. Pity we can’t see it! What is with Sturt having no Frogbox for last three weeks? Not good enough from supposedly one of the top clubs

Who would have picked Glenelg and Uni to get relegated! Good luck to Southerns and Prospect etc next season!

Apparently Sturt was broken into before Xmas and it was stolen along with zing stumps,TV and a heap of curator equipment. I heard they have been lent another from SACA but it’s faulty.
PS I heard the LBW was missing off and leg stump.

Thanks MC, that’s annoying for the Club. Glad the LBW was plum.

Adelaide need 20 off 5 overs, three wickets in hand, just to put the final nail in Bays coffin.

Declaration gave both teams a genuine chance of outright points so passes the smell test I reckon

Smart from Adelaide.

Not sure it's great for cricket in SA that Glenelg goes down. A bit like Sturt a couple of years ago. One of the strong producers of good local players. I know Sturt have returned but there seem to be a lot more recruits in their line up now. Same with Kensington, West Torrens, Adelaide, Gullies...? Clubs that were once home grown dominated have been forced to recruit more actively to stay up. That's just my impression. I haven't crunched any numbers to compare or to see if my impression is actually correct

The Hussey review called for SA to target the fringe players from other states. With more opportunities to make a career out of cricket now thanks to T20 leagues around the world, there is that carrot dangled to get that chance with SA, whichever format of the game. Even without a contract, players are making the leap. Then there are the English Academy players, which seems to have grown in number in recent years, again, probably because cricket is now a lucrative and achievable career option for a greater number of players. It makes for a really strong SACA Premier Cricket comp - especially with only 8 teams in Div 1. The best local players will still make it through. Selectors at all levels still check the scorebook.

The One Day Cup premiership team consisted of 4 locals. 2 from West Torrens - Drew and Nielsen. 2 from Kensington/East Torrens* - Pope and Lehmann*.

There's only 3 local players in the current Shield side - Nielsen (returned to WT from WDV), McInerney (WDV recruited to GLEN), Lehmann (ET recruited to KENS).

I don't think any of this is a bad thing. The prestige of Adelaide Oval and the SACA makes our city a destination to play cricket. Our population is small compared to all other states except Tasmania. As long as SACA continues to support clubs who are in Division 2, then we've already seen Sturt make the leap back and likewise Glenelg, with strong juniors and lower grades, should jump back up to Div 2. Whether Glenelg keep their plethora of interstate/other club Redbacks recruits such as McInerny, Doggett, Scott, McSweeney and Conway remains to be seen. Perhaps Glenelg haven't quite got the mix right between recruiting and bringing up players through the grades and it's bit them this season. It is a tough competition.

Re the declaration, agree it was a smart decision by both captains and in the end it was a terrific chase by Adelaide. TTG weren't far away from getting the 10 points neither which would've put them to top of the table. It just sits a bit wrong that the 1st Innings winners stand to lose nothing in this situation and opportunities for more points in a game are based on ladder positions instead of merit. Again, next week it's probable that TTG & Port work out an outright opportunity if there is one to be had, and likewise Kensington and Glenelg. TTG and Kens to get top spot/home final and Glenelg and Port to avoid relegation. Whereas if Sturt beat WT, WT likely doesn't come to the same arrangement with the Sturt captain due to ladder position, there is nothing to gain. Sturt stand to lose top spot, and possibly even a top 2 spot, even if they win 1st innings next week because of the points system and the rules, and then the finals rewards draws for being higher placed...

Do not agree, Glenelg going down is rewarding mediocrity in grade cricket. They are clearly one of the strongest clubs, having 2 clubs go down each year will continue to be detrimental. In my view having a points system spread over a couple of seasons, is a much better way to have promotion/relegation. I can live with one club a season, but given the number of grade games which are impacted by State representatives not being available, makes the current process of having 2 teams relegated highly problematic.

So next season having the possibility of having McSweeney, Scott, Doggett playing in Division 2 is beyond farcical. The bottom 2 teams in division 2 are beyond poor. You potentially have third grade players playing in games against people who play for/will play for Australia.

I.E. Rank amateurs v professionals. How is that good for the culture of cricket in this state?

2 up and 2 down don't work.......1 up and 1 down
Uni.....were the only shitful side in the comp this season
Dodgy declarations......draws.....2 or 3 washouts.....etc, etc.... all lead to an inaccurate picture of a club..... simply by a premiership table
1 up and 1 down is the answer

Can anyone who understands the ladder better than me let me know if northern districts can get to 3rd if they win the last game in div 2?
