on the other hand, after oz hit a four to pass the score a comment from the crowd was " there is the premiership right there"
so with brahma and west playing in the grand final hardly makes it worth playing anymore??

Didn't hear the comment, but I could guess who it might have been.

Could also have been related to the washed out GF.

Either way a good start is just a good start and nothing else.

Smithfield let themselves down after being 1/95(20) at drinks and then 2/159(40) at tea. They lost their 3rd wicket for 190 odd and then slipped away quickly trying to hit the big shots a little bit too early.
With 3 16 year olds and a 15 year old it was a good positive day for them in Grade 1, it was good to see Ray Bickle back at his old club scoring a well compiled 44 and it was good to see them post a decent total with Raed not having to score half of them.
With two, possibly three players to come back in the A's next game it will be good to have pressure for spots. We didn't recruit well and have to rely on our juniors that have shown promise over the past few years.
There's some good coin floating around for a late change though LOL, they didn't spend a cent of what some supporters put on offer.
They aren't going to be world beaters this season, they have set achievable goals and this season will be a great test and learning curve for alot of them.

I doubt it, maybe every now and then, they had 4 keepers in the side for this game and there's 1 more who'll definetely play next game and two others that may well suit up in the next few weeks.

Massive score by Smithfield - Did Virginia have any out?
PGCC could scare alot teams this season - Wouldnt surprise me if they made the finals.
Westies just showing the comp that they are #1 - Any chance of an outright on the cards?

Should've been 300+, balls were getting belted and still not reaching the boundary, I don't know who was out for them, Leo, Johnny, Warren, Tsimiklis & Harding IIRC were the bowlers.

Hanson 59 and not sure who else, Hanson will make plenty of runs this year i reckon. Not quite as good as his brother but still a very good cricketer in his own right. Will be eager to see how he goes against the pacier attacks from Westies and Rosies

Yes Browny they may, as long as they beat the other 3 lower half teams in both forms and maybe snag a win against a top four side they should be right in the hunt. Will be good for them, and the club to stay up and not get relegated
