I think Pidge could be the next Mitchell Johnson.

Hold on a sec. I am only averaging 6 with the bat this season. Although i am averaging a bit over 15 with the ball :D

Cossens scored a 99 recently and Marshall a 97 against your mob a few matches ago. From Para Vista, I'd say that Hodson is due for a bigg'un after an encouraging Carnival.

Reidy has been hitting them well half-fit, so when his groin is better, I think he will be posting a ton. Apart from that, the usual suspects like Holland, A.Frith, Marshall, Giglio and maybe Loechel and Hoefel when they are back and firing. I don't know much about NEK's. Baker from Morialta has the ability, but like many in our competition, lacks the desire to grind out an innings, preferring the 20/20 approach I see so often at matches these days. Keep an eye out in the ton column for a bloke by the name of Jon Smith from PV.. And yes, that is his real name.. ;)

Footnote ; I see the Phantom has just pipped me to the prediction.. ;)

I know one guy who is due. Reggie05 loves oneday cricket and could bring it up this week.

Even the one day format seems too long for me to bat now Spintwin - maybe we need to introduce a 20/20 comp for old hacks like me. Goat Herder despite your comment above maybe you could make a comeback quick 20/20 leaves plenty of time to get the boat out.

There is another lad from Para Vista, John Smith, currently the STATES highest average with 182.00 perhaps a chance? My money would be on giggs over Hoeful, this week is the best opportunity..

Definitely keep an eye out for John. I've only seen him bat a handful of times but from what I have seen he will be making a lot of runs in the A grade.

Well done boys our Comp should be proud of your efforts this week.

Too right mate, the guys gave it their all and should be proud of their efforts. In the end, it was a steep learning curve for the majority of the playing group, who have played very little turf cricket in their careers. The standard of the competition was much higher than the previous Carnival in Adelaide, with all of the teams pretty much evenly matched, apart from the NSW 2 side who weren't quite up to scratch. Give them credit though, they battled their butts off all week and were a good bunch of blokes on the whole.

Congratulations to Marc Cossens for his selection as the All-Australian wicket-keeper. He was by far the best performed 'keeper during the course of the week, and his glovework standing up to the stumps to every bowler except for Vines had to be seen to be believed. His leg-side catch standing up to the pegs off Holland on Day 4 was nothing short of magnificent. Congratulations also to our vice-captain Shaun Holland, who showed great leadership batting at 3 for the last 4 days and bowled 1st or 2nd change with the heart of a lion. He accumulated 95 runs at the #3 spot and took 12 wickets, including an inspired 5/21 against NSW 2, and thoroughly deserved his A-A selection and baggy green cap.

Last but not least, special mention must be made to the skipper, Richard Marshall, for the way he led the troops over the course of 5 days, particularly after being dismissed for nought on both of the first 2 days. He led the way with the bat from there on, and with luck, could've turned his scores into big ones. Primarily, his mental application across the full 5 days, despite his own personal doubts after 2 days of competition speaks volumes for the man. The boys found out how hard it is mentally and physically to play 5 days of representative level cricket and will be better prepared in those aspects in Sydney in 2010.

Happy New Year everyone and all the best in your Club matches during 2009. 8)

Where do they play the championships in Sydney, is it in a regional town like wollongong, or actually in Sydney?

The last one there in '02/'03 was held at the Macquarie University complex, not far from Ryde, so that one was actually in the 'burbs of Sydney itself. From what I've heard, the next one will be in Syndey again, or at least in the CBD, and I'm pretty sure they have a different venue targetted this time, but I can't remember exactly where. I'll find out. ;)

Make it the next 65 over match, bat him at 3, and I might consider it.. ;)

Nope never played for them and to be honest hated playing against them, they always seemed to have it over us, especially one John Dolling who I think I played against 5 times for 5 tons. One in particular in a final I dropped him at 1st slip 2nd ball and he batted all day for 120 odd, perhaps thats why I hated them so much. But to their credit they have been a very strong club now for many many decades

You also need help after I knocked back your middle and leg stumps in the nets last weekend. You had no answer to the furious pace and swing I was producing.
