Masha wrote:Lodge did just enough to get over SN. Chasing 154, Lodge declared 8/172. Was cruising until a mini collapse made it interesting. Beau Paterson batted very well for 65 N.O.

SN's 2nd innings wasn't much better than their first, 7-60 ish I think. Highlight was my 2 over spell, which featured a text book spinners wicket. Bit of drift, turn and bounce. Thanks for taking the catch Browny. Luke Paterson bowled well again, had a good game with the ball.

surely your not bowling spin now, what happened to the Chris Harris twiddly dinks.

We had an excellent night with our player auction on Saturday, whoever owns the MOTM for the A grade for the one-dayers will recieve $530 and the B grade is worth $270. The club made $685 out of it too just for being the banker.

No, we generated $6285, $685 of that goes to the club, the remaining $5600 gets divided up by 7 (the amount of one-dayers) which gives us $800 per week, this gets split up into 3rds, two thirds goes to the A grade and one third goes to the B grade. Each week, whoever bought the A grade MOTM will recieve $530 and $270 to whoever bought the B grade MOTM, MOTM is based purely on votes so there is no discrepancies.

One good knock in the A's and he'll earn his buyer $330 profit. It generates a fair bit of interest from our members and it makes each Saturday night a good one as someone always some coin.

Raed went for the most, he was $600. We used to do it only for the A grade, the payout each week was over $900 so we thought it was a bit too much for one person to win each week and put too much pressure on the captain.

Yeah, mainly syndicates of 2 to 4 people, there were a few that just go it alone. we had 23 players plus a wild card that ranged from $70 to $600, the way the names were drawn out worked well to our favour, the top 3 or 4 most wanted came out in the last half a dozen.
It's hard to gauge what is a good bargain in the first 8, one lad who won two MOTM's in the B's last season went for $70 as he was the first out, then you get the ones that have been outbidded all night desperate to get someone near the end so the price goes up rapidly.

I'm always the auctioneer so it's pretty hard to try and join syndicates while the bidding is going on, there is generally a fair bit of wheeling and dealing after the auction.
I ended up goingh halves in the Wild Card for $360 and halves in James Morris $300, I'm pretty happy with my buys, I'll probably try and jump in on a couple of others Thursday night if they let me into their syndicates.
