I hear big Matty Thompson has made the move from Wandies over to the tigers. Must have been promised the new ball and a chance to bat up the order...
In other news I've been told young Sammy Keane wont be playing this year and Benny Brown has been hot on the chase for a new glovesman. A crystal brook keeper has knocked it back and I hear some coin may have been offered to an oppisition player to make the move to south port. With free agency underway I wonder if his currernt club have the chance to match the offer hahahaha.
On a serious note I think our league is in big trouble if sides are using money incentives to lure players, what does everyone else think?
As for the district cricketer new to town... thats the first ive heard of it. If true my guess would be that he will end up at south port as Ben Brown has played at that level recently and would have the connections, but thats just a guess.
Only 4 sleeps till we kick off season 12/13!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you seriously saying there are clubs or a club in pirie cricket offering money for local players to change clubs. You have got to be joking, surely. Where do they get their money from? Who ever the club is would likely get this district player (if correct) you would think then.

I wonder who it could be.

Are we going to get some entertaining team profiles/season previews from PP Lions?

Ok heres my predictions for 2012/13

PROPS: In-J Mckenna
Out-C Olophant (retired)
R Cable will be out till Christmas so expect to see some kids given a game with Warick and Mckenna not available every week. Very strong in both areas of the game and the inclusion of Mckenna in the middle order will make the task of bowling them out even harder. Expect a big year from Horsnell and Fowler as they pair up as the best opening combo in the comp.
Most runs-R Wyatt
Most wickets-T Horsnell
X factor-J Makai
Finish-Top (3 in a row)

Wanderah: Ins-?????
Outs-M Thompson (risdon)
We all know what the rams can preduce and I have no doubt this year will be any different. Very strong top order and bowlers in Thornton, Gillett and Carmody won't give much away. They will be out for revenge after last years loss to Props. Keep an on young Harry Thoman as my mail says he looks quite good for a jnr and will get an oportunity at some stage.
Most Runs-G Carmody
Most wickets-M Thornton
X factor-R Gillett
Finish-2nd only just behind Props

South Port: Ins-???
Outs- S Keane (rumoured to not be playing?)
Well after a fantastic finals series where they should have been playing off in a GF the South Port boys will be keen to start where they left off. With Pavlich, Merret, Brown and Sullivan you could argue they have got the strongest bowling attack going around. What they do lack is some quality batting. When his head is down Pavlich is more than capible and i like the look of young Bullen. Again big things will be asked of Brown and thier futunes will again depend on him. With Keane out it will be interesting to see who gets the gloves.
Most Runs-B Brown
Most wickets-B Brown
X Factor B-Brown
Finish 5th (just pipped out by Sollies at the end)

Risdon: Ins-M Thompson
Out-J Twigden (retired)
I'm expecting the tigers to line up pretty much the same but my only concern would be the loss of Twigden. A former Grewer medalist his big hitting and ability to chew up overs while taking wickets will be greatly missed and i'm not convinced he can be replaced. Will be interesting to see the development of young Thompson as he looks for greater oportunity at Risdon. I'm expecting a big year from Dan Pine with the bat and if he can get back to his form of 3 years ago (batted at 3 in combine side) big scores for this side will be a given. Look for some big partnerships between him and captain Z Hutchinson. The bowling looks good on paper with Adams, Thompson and the 2 Pine brothers but at times the line and length can be off and prove costly. If this can be fixed they will be right up there again.
Most Runs-D Pine
Most Wickets-B Pine
X Factor- Anyone with the last name Pine
Finish 3rd

Sollomontown: Ins-S Mcintyre & R Neck
Outs- N Hill (Warnertown)
After a long stay at the bottom of the ladder i'm going to tip the cats the make the 4 and just nudge out South Port. Alot will depend on how good Mcintyre is as his credentials look quite impressive. If he can get support from Williams, Sedunary, Hardaker and Darian Hayes then the top order looks quite strong and should build some defendable totals. The bowling has some youth but its time the young lads step up as they now have 3 or 4 years experience and I just feel that with Johnson, Thorpe, Wauchope,Mcintyre,Sedunary and Hardaker, it's time for the young boys to shine. Expect a break out year from Johnson and hopfully we will see him again open the bowling for Pirie combined.
Most Runs-S Mcintyre
Most Wickets-A Johnson
X factor-S Mcintyre
Finish 4th

Premiers Props
Most Runs G Carmody
Most Wickets T Horsnell
Grewer Medal S Mcintyre

B Grade Premiers Warnertown
Most Runs D Wauchope
Most Wickets C Pollard
Recorder Medalist D Wauchope

Look forward to seeing what you all think and seeing some other opinions. All the best for 2012/13

My man tells me you play on 22nd dec and don't start again until the 5th of jan, so how does that stop you from going away over xmas and the new year. No one cares much about australia day anyhow because there is no test match. Get a program off of your club.

Great to see some underdogs get up in a number of games on the weekend - in particular the Sollies' A Grade side.
Well done to the Cats.
Just on that game - Is Randall still Props' skipper in the A Grade?
And in the B Grade a massive win to Strykers - with the post match celebrations continuing well into the afternoon.
Southport's B Grade looks very very strong - Simon Carroll with a massive hundred to start the year will strengthen their batting immeasureably.
Looks like a more even season in both grades which is great for both competitions.
