merger is a good optiona nd is in the best interest of the comp
good luck getting teams to merge though!
uni is the obvious as they have no juniors,
even though both clubs are strong or were last few season woodville and west torrens would be another logical merge
making the comp size similar to the sanfl!!

Being from Southern you'd be happy with 3 kids getting into the State Under 17 squad but wouldn't think you'd be happy with the one that missed out.

From what I've heard the off spinner Joraslafsky's taken 20 wickets at C and recently B grade level at average of about 13. He's missed out and the legspinner Williams from Northern who's taken 6 wickets @ 19 has got in.

My mail is the feedback Joraslafsky got from coach Russell Thompson was that Williams "got over the line" because he's a better fielder.

Also heard the 6 bowlers picked for the team have taken 26 SACA wickets between them this season.

Explain that one.

Got me whacked Abber. The kid keeps getting overlooked. A year or two ago he missed the Australian Under-15 trip to England after taking highest aggregate scalps from the National Carnival. The NSW spinner got the trip instead.
The excuse that Joraslafsky missed out because of fielding doesn't wash with me, Can't field ??? The kids a gun !!!! If you go for short singles you don't hit it to Tommy J.

Couple of other odd selections in the State Under 17 team.

1 Carter from Glenelg was in the squad all the way through and you would have thought would have been slotted as reserve keeper to Barrett from Southern. Team's announced and Beneke from Prospect gets the gig even though he wasn't in the squad.

2 What has Jake Lehmann actually done to get into the team?

firstly blokes are always going to miss out and someone will always be disapointed, but to suggest (in someones post later on) that joraslasfskys didnt get in because he doesnt 'know' the coach is a bit steep. i dont know the lad but i do know russell and maybe attitude came into the equation, just cos you make team one year doesnt mean you make it the next, its not also how many wickets you get as a spinner especially, but more how you get them, again i dont know much about the sd lad.the carnival is in perth as well, not the most spinner friendly wickets, may have had some outcome on selection as well. what does joraslasfskys bowl?

A lot of your post made sense "Star" but have to reply on one thing. The insinuation that Joraslafsky might not have had a good attitude has to be answered.
Unless he behaves very differently at State training than what he has always showed at Bice Oval, attitude is never a problem.
I firmly believe he'll get his chance sometime down the track, because he consistently gets results.

again i dont know the lad and he maybe he is a brilliant character, i know that that would be high on the coaches selection sheet, someone that will pull for his team mates and help those out in the squad that maybe under performing.

lets keep in mind as well people that r. thompson has led the past 2 under 17 team to national glory and has rightly been put in charge of both 17's and 19's this year, i dont think he would have won these titles by picking people on names and reputations and luck, his judge of a cricket character and the discipline he has pumped into these lads from 17's for past 2 years will serve this state greatly in years to come.

All lower grades except about 1 B grade game did not have to turn up to the ground today. I would assume they would all be sitting around waiting for it to dry out which it probably won't. Best to can today's play and try again tomorrow for the One dayers
