Great 2 see pirie cricket back on memorial oval. Excellent job by who ever got the pitch up, look like a road. Long time since 190 odd has been chased down on a sunday. I remember playing for North and we chased down 160 on sunday. Gus and china i think put on a 100 opening partnership.

Looking at the sides pirie beat in the spencer gulf shield, I wouldnt consider the sides port augusta and whyalla put out as their best. Probably not even their fifth. The combined book at the start of the year always has Simon written in at three and Andrew at eight. D. Williams looks 2 be finding confidence with bat and Scott Mac is a class above. They would be my selections from Solly. B. Brown and J. Pavlich should get the nod from south port and i would pick S. Carroll if he wanted 2. Fuchs from props plus Wyatt Earp, R. Flower and Warwick. Hutchy from risdon. Wandies should have Thornton and Caromody.

Laz is now the coach of the combined side after Mals ill health. Mal still gave Laz a hand selecting the side as did Grumpy I believe. Theres no way Carrol could even be cosidered, he made 140 odd against props under 17 side and 180 odd against another lower ranked side (on Pirie west oval). Now dont get me wrong, I think the guy can bat, but the gap between B grade bowlers in pirie, to the best bowlers in augusta and Whyalla is a huge difference. Same must be said for Scotty Mac, after scoring 4 and 1 in his 1st 2 A grade games. The difference with Scotty would be, I'd pick him as a bowler as his form with the ball has been very impressive and he can bat obviously.

Any more news on the risdon b grade situation or has it all blown over now after some very good legal representation? Foster must be spewin they got his name right after last years grand final. On Risdon, after playing in an A grade grand final only 2 years ago its a shame the playing stocks have dropped away. Hutch has done a super job with that team over the last few years and it may be time for a few of the clubs so called B grade superstars to step up and show how good they really are and help the club out.

Very short sighted comment Larry. IF your referring to the senior blokes helping out the mentoring the B grade for a few seasons i would consider that helping the club. Most of those bloke work long hours and cant commit to 50 over cricket. Some of the younger lads drive back from adelaide friday to help out the club and drive back sunday. Sounds like helping the club out to me. It is a worry about the A grade but when you lose guys to the caliber of Twiggy, Rob anderson, Mark Johnson its no surprise they are struggling.

If it wasn't for the fence the ball that hit the changeroom roof would've been lining up for service at the Sporties Drive Thru.

Anyway, good effort Strykers that's 35 overs batted out in the first four games. Much better performance than last year, but will need to work on fitness now that games are lasting longer!

Great call Lions4. Watched them in passing a few times. Really getting some good scores. I think they will push Risdon this week. Bowlers of the calibre of Quinn, Trezise, Napper and co should put some real pressure on the tiger boys. Risdon only had 10 last week and my sauce tells me that jubba isnt back.

Larry I have posted a few ideas on here 2 get some B grade SUPERSTARS 2 step up. There is some talent that play B grade and could easily step up and make the grade. Risdon could swap there teams around. But unfortunately it suits more people 2 play B grade. Less overs, cool of the mornings, saturdays, dont miss many saturday races etc. Its the PPCA that needs 2 listen 2 the clubs. Not just 1 or 2. All the clubs need 2 come up with a viable option. The PPCA has showed in the past its inability 2 evolve with the times. The talent pool is thread bare. Pirie cricket is dying and PPCA is stuck in the old era were women couldnt vote. I dont now which club you are affiliated with Lary, but what are your thoughts? Tiger teddies you came on and stirred the pot have you got anything 2 say/add ? PP lions you post a bit? Squids you obviously support the Tigers what are your honest thoughts? How come so much talent plays B grade for your club and not A grade? Is it true that none of them train, pay subs or ball fees. Big stack you are in the know what changes would you make? SRF85 why do you guys play Bgrade? What would have 2 change for you guys 2 play A grade?

Main reason I play B's is I like still having a decent weekend and the 35 overs is great. If our team did have A grade I would play though. After last season making an A-Grade side isn't in our sights but maybe one day.

I went to Memorial for a little while on Sunday afternoon and quicky learnt two things. Firstly the difference in A grade sides and B grade sides in Port Pirie is quite different. There are some B grade sides with only one or two players at the most who have the capability of single handedly winning games. There are probably two teams with more than two that would be in that category. A team like the Strykers would need about 5 A graders to join their club and with their current best 6 could be competitive. Secondly this is why when A graders play in B grade they usually tear the oppositon apart with the bat, which is not necessarily a bad thing if the opposition can use the experience to get better but sometimes it is demoralising.

I cant agree with you there lions4th. There is not alot of difference between A grade and Bgrade now. B grade has a 2 piece ball and seen many A graders drop down and have techniques exposed with the swinging ball. Seen many A grade bowlers drop down and get smashed round. Scotty Mac is a class above. He will shine fully soon enough. Best Bgrade XI would beat best Agrade XI.

4 A. Rasheed
5 N. Anderson
6 L. Mcaulliffe
7 D. Hayes
8 J. Merrett
9 A. Mills
10 C. Warick
11 L. Pole
Probably more talent round then that, but this list took me 2 minutes.

Looking forward 2 getting my first good look at the bats this morning. Sollies team as always will be a mystery. The bats have a pretty settled line up. Some reports say they are on the slide. But i think come march the Wombat army will be playing in the grand final.
