But with J.I. on the way to Olympic rings this season...why does,nt he get picked on...plus he,s supposed to be a ..GUN after all!!!!! ;) Just love that saying.."He,s a Gun", yep that old chestnut!!!

Maybe Num could take a leaf out of a certain B Millar,s batting book and have a 'V' that went from fine leg to mid wicket.. haha!!!

Seriously though folks Enc Bay are looking pretty handy again this year, and won on the weekend with a second string side!!!

Clearly Aldinga are issues without the Garrard,s, Willunga are going to be "something"and will be around the mark in March...although they do tend to c....

Elliot 'seam' to be ok and have a ...yep "He,s a GUN" bowler..and no its NOT you Hamish!!!

Goolwa and Pongy have certainly got some talent, but need their best on the park to win and do tend to rely on too few to get them over the line!! Tomo= yep"He,s a GUN"!!!!

Compass need to just wake up, old men take a bit longer to get going and with Binn,s in the side they
certainly are OLD  Mind you..he,s their best player which doesnt say much for the rest of them!!! But generally they will slowly get better and like fine wine will turn just right as the season goes!!!

Thoughts everyone!!! as this forum is pretty mellow!!!!

Tony Out!!! COME ON!!!!

Yep, stay solid Tone...

that just goes to show whats going on up there at compass,
bring someone straight in for a game from know where,
wouldn't be suprised if some of there young guns that are stuck in the b's find somewhere else to play next year.
especially with thats the kind of selection agenda. Experience before youthful ability. that will win them a flag wont it

Sometimes it's not the best option picking someone from the B's if it's only going to be for one week. Don't know what the Compass circumstances are, but often you pick the next best guy in B Grade, and he may be a bowler. If you bat on day one, he likely doesn't get a bowl, may go down to B's next week who also might be bowling..

I think that's where the replacement player rule sometimes isn't the best. In the good ol' days, if you weren't available one week, you didn't play at all that game! I understand the needs of clubs nowadays who may struggle for numbers, but I've often been in teams where it is just easier to pick a "fill in" guy for one week, if you know it's only going to be for one week, than to, perhaps, stuff around a young guy from the B's.. as I said, not knowing what's happening at Compass, maybe one guy may only be missing for this week..

Good Comments by offcutter, clearly by someone who knows the game, rather than just guessing what is happening inhouse at a club!!

It's no wonder Goolwa are struggling ATM. Seen a player obviously do himself a fairly bad mischief yesterday, dislocating his shoulder. The poor bloke had to wait for over an hour after the days play had finished, whilst his family must have drove from Goolwa to help him to the hospital. Not 1 team mate helped him or his car. They just seemed to run away. Poor Form if you ask me. Geez it's bad enough that not one of them stayed back for 10 minutes to socialize with the opposition, but to leave a team mate stranded and in obvious pain is F*****G ordinary.

On a brighter subject Well Done to Bryce (Bubbles) Garrard & Rhys (BAM BAM) Mather. Both players scoring centuries.

Chris Hayward i think was his name. Poor bloke wasn't looking good at all. We asked him if we could give him any assistance but he just wanted his family there to help him vacate the premises.

Oh & when is this association going to toughen up on these B Grade sides shirking the A Grade. Rapid Bay has had 2 blokes in 2 weeks make centuries, 300+ runs in 50 overs this week.
300 runs in 50 overs and they say there not good enough to play a higher grade = Jokes on you GSCA
C'mon Great Southern Association, Wake the f**k Up.

We might have to rename you 'GrumpyWanderer' after your last few posts! ;)

The thing is with Rapid Bay in the past, if you knock over Benno & Willis cheaply they'll often struggle to pass 100. Likewise with their bowling, if you can see off Dalitz and the man mountain Sparnon, life as a batsman becomes a fair bit easier. To their credit they have perservered with an A grade in the past and always start the season well, however their form seems to come down with the Christmas decorations and in A grade their lack of depth often gifts sides outrights late in the season.

Having said that, this year they seem to be getting more support from guys like Bear, Fielke & Vin Wright. The question is ... are they as good as/better than Pongy or Goolwa? Do we want a 9 team A grade with a bye? The league not wanting a bye was the ONLY reason Compass fielded 2 A grades last year. Yank & Victor certainly not capable of A grade at this stage.

Good Come back from Port Elliot, But have no chance of getting 254. Finally getting found out after some wins against the bottom sides

Compass Vs Vale should be a cracker, Vale have a struggling batting line up with the talent to make the runs, but compass will be fired up after a "Wet day in the field" against encounter bay

Aldinga will thrash a 2nd string Goolwa Line up, Evans with Massive shoulders this year and probably the only A grader in the side.

Pongy have a chasable target, but will need one M. Tomlinson to make a big score to get over the line.....

Gee that is a big statement bagging two of the best cricketers to play in this league in the last twenty years. Admittedly they might not be producing the stats of years gone by, but they will come good. Numerous A grade flags , meyer shield appearances and plenty of runs and wickets will ensure these two blokes are remembered as greats of our game !!

1 willunga very good consistent team ,mccard huge pickup.
2 enc bay talented but dont always have their best players available
3 compass strong batting line up but need to find some bowlers
4 aldinga losing bryce will be huge , have good depth though.
