I'm impressed Moe ! Waisting your time at Morphy's, top job at the ASCA awaits you ;) .....

For what it's worth i think the night should include the handing out of trophy's for the Grand finalists. The more you involve the better chance more people will attend, promoted properly. Ludacris having it GF week, can you imagine the WYC or Plympton boys attending it this year sipping on their squashes in the lead up to maybe the biggest game they will play in :D

Next year it will be WYC and someone else. ;)

No chance we would be sipping on squashes no matter what night it would be. Beers to be drunk and plenty of jagers to be ordered ;)

CK has already started ordering the Jagers ;)

The association will be putting to the AGM that we have a 3 week final system in section 1 this upcoming season. It will be up to the clubs to vote for it if they want to trial it for one season.

The proposal would see the season being 10x 2dayers and one 1dayer the first game after xmas. It would also mean that the Section 1 grand final would be a stand alone game on the last weekend in March with all other sections finishing the weekend prior to that.

Be interesting to see what the clubs will do in regards to voting for it.

I like the concept, except I would like to see 2 one day games in the programme. 1 before Xmas, and 1 after. Just my views though, not my club's.
I likr the idea of round 1 as a One Dayer with a "Rivalry Round".
MPCC v Plympton
WYC v ICC
Coro v Ramblers
Keswick v Sth Rd
Cove v Sheidow
ANA v Belair (may not be bitter enemies, but all thats left)
Good to see some ASCA banter, as I miss the cricket already.

Yeah your right there Moe, i think you need to keep the season the same length, so a 1 dayer before xmas (1st game) would keep everything as is, then a 1 dayer after xmas will make the regular season 1 week shorter. (good for those that want to get into footy), then the section 1 grand final would be a week later but in actual fact probably be played on the same days it would have been had the finals been 2 weeks instead of three.

As explaned below with a 1 dayer after xmas that means that the season would start 1 week earlier for all grades. I don't know about other clubs but Plympton Oval over the past few years has struggled to be ready for round 1 as it stands, another week earlier and we'd theoretically have PO out of action for maybe 2 games.

So on that basis Plympton would have to vote against, even though the concept at the other end of the season is what Plympton has been pushing for!

It needs to be 9x 2dayer, 2x 1dayer.

The season would still be the same length Jabber, as the extra one dayer after xmas would open up the extra week for Sect.1 Grand Final.
We would not be starting any earlier, as we always have a one dayer before xmas anyway, so therefore the season would start as normal, and finish as normal.

Moe, i thought that if the 1 dayer was moved from before xmas to after xmas then that would make the before xmas schedule go from 5x2 dayers and 1x 1dayer (11 weeks) to then be 6x 2dayers (12 weeks) therefore 1 extra week on the schedule pre-xmas xmas?

The pre-xmas season finished 17th dec last year so you couldnt add an extra week onto the end of it, you would need to add an extra week onto the start of it!

It needs to be the following:
Pre Xmas - 5x2 dayers, 1x 1dayer (11 weeks as per last season)
Post Xmas - 4x2 dayers, 1x 1dayer (9 weeks - 1 less than last season)
Finals - Sect 1: 3x s/s 2dayers (3 weeks - 1 more than last season), Section 2 below: 2x s/s 2 dayers (2 weeks as per last season)

Therefore season finishes the same for Section 1 & 1 week earlier than normal for all sections below

If I'm correct, with the way the Saturday's fall this year, I think it ends up something like this.
Before Xmas: 6 x 2 dayers (12 Saturdays before Xmas this year)
One week off
After Xmas: 1 one dayer, 4 2 dayers and 3 weeks for finals.

I believe if the 3 week finals for section 1 don't get up, this year will be 11 x 2 dayers due to having an extra Saturday to play with.

The following years will then have 2 one dayers per year to accommodate a 3 week final system

It will be put to a vote by our committee after the AGM, but I will be lobying strongly for it.

Plympton has a history of lobying progress for things like finals, it was Plympton that originally lobbied for a finals system 30 odd (guessing) years ago, before that it was whoever finished top at the end of the minor round was declared the premier. So this would be a natural progression for us to support change like this.

I'm all for having the most amount of people able to attend what should be the best game on the A&SCA calendar, and the A&SCA then promoting that accordingly.

And I think it would be a strong message that the A&SCA is progressing from a 'parklands cricket' competition.

I'm all for the idea, and i'm sure Morphy's would vote in favour of it.

Another i would like to maybe see is a MOTM award given out in each GF, this could be voted on by the umps, and i'm sure we have enough ASCA legends to name 7 medals after.

They need to rename the Premiership Cup first - Excel Rent A Car Cup for Section One?? Not Cool!

Well you would assume the umps doing div 1 would be of better quality to vote properly for it!

I think keeping it to div 1 is the way to go, the superior comp, differential in div 1 to the rest
