Creeks WIN. Last wicket stand of 40

Nairne v Creek in GF next week.

Rain forecast

How important now is that 5 million runs Nairne made in the last game against Mt. Barker to scrape into the finals and 3rd spot, about 0.3 of a point ahead of the Creek ?

Thanks for the updates Jim. Quite a finish  Lobethal's run of 8 straight flags finally ends. Weather not good next weekend by the looks of it as you mentioned. As for Woodside..the March curse continues.

In the TVCA, Paracombe won the As. Gum's could only manage 81 batting first, with Paracombe approx 3/70 overnight. They battted on and approx 150, with Gum then looking for some quick runs to force an outright result. The last I heard was that they were 40 ahead with 15 overs left. So assuming that 10 pirate wickets didn't tumble in the final hour, safe to assume they got up.

In the B Grade yesterday Mt Torrens/Charleston upset Gumeracha. The eagles posted about 150 batting first, with Gum falling about 30-40 short. Back-to-back flags for the Eagles who came from 3rd to win it. Just the 2nd defeat for the Pies this season.

Bigship you should not of said too much last week about Palmers score when you pirates made a similar score this week.

Pirates 2011/12!!! Only took us 34 years since the last one but finally got there.

If Gumeracha can take anything out of it, maybe it's that they should spend more time concentrating on their cricket than abusing the opposition.

Well done to Cam Sumner from Gumercaha who got Cricketer of the Year and leading batsmen and Aaron McArdle who got the allrounders award and leading bowler. 60 wickets in a season isn't too bad.

Yep, Karma is a bitch and a massive helping of humble pie for me... but as for you calling us the Woodside "Pirates"? Cmon... thats a bit of a low blow isn't it? Last time we played Paracombe i reckon we scored 300 odd runs in a very convincing one day victory - but that was just after your Cavaliers lost another GF in 2009/10 (something I know alot about aswell :Hangman: ) and went missing from the TVCA and forced both us and Lobethal to start looking elsewhere for decent competition which we've found in the A&EHCA - going into the last round there were 7 teams vying for finals action... It certainly wasn't like last year when everyone knew it was Loby/Woodside GF before the season started.

On a brighter note - Good Luck to the Woodside A2's against Nairne this coming weekend in their quest to back up from winning the last TVCA A2 flag last season, to taking out the A&EHCA A2 flag in our first season in the competition.

Woodside A2's were very lucky by all reports chasing 100 were 5 for 22 then should have been 6/30 an old fella from there c's (paul reid) got dropped on zero went on to make 34 got them across the line. Should be a close game between them and nairne, nairne have been making some big scores the last few weeks. Woodside's bowlers have been bowling tight especially there 2 spinners but might not be enough. Gamma for nairne is in hot form taking 8 wkts last week, heard he used to play at wooside is this 'correct big ship'?

Correct - Haydyn Gamma who actually took 9 for 30 odd in the semi, played B grade for Woodside last season but the bloody skipper didn't even bowl him - great call  Hopefully he's used all his "good luck" up and won't repeat the effort in the Granny!!
Don't quite know why you think our A2's were so "lucky" though... Cricket is a funny game and strange things happen - dropped catches, missed runouts or brainsnaps from the batsman can all alter the outcome - when you think you've got a side on their knees something can happen to swing the momentum the other way - just ask Lobethal A Grade what happened in their semi vs Langhorne Creek. Defending 119 they had the visitors 9/83 before the last pair put on 40!

My predictions for the 4 A&EHCA GF's:
A's - Nairne to win a real close one - within ten runs.
A2's - An upset here - Nairne have been the dominant side all season but not surprisingly I'll parochially back the Warriors of course.
B's - Hahndorf too good for the visiting Ashbourne
C's - Langhorne Creek on the home turf.
Good luck to all the sides playing this weekend (except for Nairne A2's of course) and let's hope any rain holds off until Sunday night.

It is quite amazing that Langhorne Creek have been able to reach the Grand Final in 'A' Grade when one has a look at their batting record this season.

They have only batted their FULL quota of overs ONCE this season and that was in a 1 day match versus Bremer/Callington - 9/143 (40 overs) and that was after being 9/114 chasing 136

NOT once have they been able to bat 70 overs in a 2 day match.

Their best effort in a 2 day match was 179 (62.1 overs) v Ashbourne.
62.1 overs also has been their LONGEST innings for the season.

Of the Creek players playing in the Grand Final, ONLY 2 players have scored a 50 this season - Golding 70 v Hahndorf and Williamson 66 v Lobethal.

L. Creek Batting Aves 'A' Grade 11/12

1/ Johnson 248 @ 23.45
2/ Dellatore 231 @ 23.10
3/ Williamson 222@22.20

4/ Golding 128 @ 14.22 which included 70 in 1 innings.

The rest ave 11.64 or lower.

L. Creek Bowling

Williamson 29 wkts @ 8.76
Johnson 14 wkts @ 11.71 (has been bowling sparingly due to injury)
Golding 15 wkts @ 19.20
Dellatore 13 wkts @ 17.54
Clements 6 wkts @ 19.67

Aside from the bowling figures of Williamson and Johnson and taking into account the very ordinary batting stats, it is mindboggling how the Creeks have made the Grand Final, also taking into consideration the Shocking draw they had.
The Creeks lost 2 of their 1st 3 matches of the season but have been UNbeaten since so going on that, they fully deserve their place in the Grand Final.

The point is that stats can be very misleading and the only stat that matters is that u score at least 1 more run than the opposition which they've been able to do 7 matches in a row.

Whether the Creeks can beat can stop Nairnes' bid for a 4th successive flag remains to be seen, going on the stats - NO but then again, the Creeks some how have been able to continually find a way to win against the odds.

Foster out for Nairne is a blow to them but with plenty of bowling options, they should be able to cover for him.

Cant see either team batting out their 70 overs which probably indicates the lack of batting depth in this association as i mentioned after A&EHCAs Meyer Sheild flop.

If whoever bats 1st can somehow bat 70 overs, they WILL WIN for sure.

Tip is Nairne simply because of a more even spread of talent across the team where as the Creeks rely on too few (note that the Creeks top 4 run scorers are also their top 4 wkt takers). Having said that, i wouldn't count the Creeks out as they just seem to find a way against the odds.

Stumps day 1

Nairne about 134 (54 overs)

L.Creek 1/43 (16 overs)

Creeks would seemingly start Favourites on Day 2 but as their records
show, batting certainly isn't their strength and an early wicket or 2 is all that Nairne needs to be right back in the game in a big way.

Did Williamson bowl all day from one end JJ? i remember the days of Golding and Warren bowling all day and no one else getting a go, oh maybe the 1st change bowler got 2 overs back then. Looks like the creek might be just ahead at this point JJ.

I was squashing grapes all day so didn't get to see any play, Got no idea who got the wickets, heard that williamson left the field at one stage with a hamstring strain so assume he didn't bowl from one end the entire innings.

Creeks All Out 99. Nairne Premiers 4 years straight.

The early wicket of Dellatore today gave Nairne all the confidence they needed as the Creek batsmen not surprisingly succumbed to the pressure of the situation.
Well done to Nairne, too good in the finals albeit they were lucky to make them in the 1st place.
