He did open the batting for while at rosies when he was abit younger when they were in div2 and 3.

I played alot of juniors against him and he was an ok junior use to bat at 5 or 6 and bowl first change, would occasionally hit 20-30 or take 3 wickets without being a star.

His brother Paul? was a gun who use to open there batting and bowling, they also had Chris McLean but Paul? was the best out of the lot, don't know what ever happended to him.

I haven't played against Rosies in a few years but obviously Russ has turned into an extremly handy div1 cricketer which is a credit to himself.

I never got to face myself back then, just aswell, I would've both been reported. Had do have the thinking cap on back in them days, there was a lot of good bats going around, and bowlers. You guys had a young Glenn North and Drakey going in tandem, Kershaw, Salisbury North had O'B, Centrals had Laird and Sonneman, I used to get a lot buzzing around my ears when I batted..........karma ;)

Indeed.... The comp was awesome back then. Not easy for a 14yo making his way in Grade 1. Played against Elizabeth and Mark DeJong in my first game and had OB and Willow in my second game.....times were tough.

Lucky for me I never really got to bat higher than 9, much to my disgust at the time.

I dont feel R&C could set a total, and would be much better chasing. Brookes, Morton, Harrison all need to bat patient and be able to set the game up...

should be a big crowd and atmosphere there.

Grand Finals
Grade 1
Salisbury West (A) vs Rose & Crown (A) @ Salisbury West - Westies too strong this time round. Rosies to win next season.
Grade 2
Smithfield (A) vs Parafield Gardens (A) @ Smithfield - Smithfield in a close one. Raed to hit a tonne, Pargaliti to clean up the tail and bag 5 for.
Grade 3
Brahma Lodge (B) vs One Tree Hill (B) @ Brahma Lodge - Brahma to win by 10 runs or less. Hunter & Wall 100+ opening partnership.
Grade 4
Parafield Gardens (B) vs Salisbury West (C) @ Parafield Gardens - Westies... Has the club ever won just the one premiership in a season?? At least one of the North boys for a starring role (if they are playing)
Grade 5
Salisbury North (C) vs Virginia (B) @ Salisbury North - Salisbury Nth by heaps... not as much as Rd 5 but by at least 50. Denengelse for BOG
Grade 6
Two Wells (A) vs Craigmore (C) @ Two Wells - Two Wells should win, but if Galway makes runs and Walker takes wickets, Craigmore could upset.
Grade 7
Modbury (A) vs Parafield Gardens (C) @ The Heights - Modbury to thump them..
Grade 8
One Tree Hill (C) vs Central United (D) @ One Tree Hill - OTH for the win. Mick Banwell & Luke Lister to star with the bat while Nissen & Banwell to take the wickets.
I wanna grow up to be Chad Vader

i will be floating between the "members" area at oth for the div 8 final.

then heading to the lodge for the div 3 final between oth and brahma and then laughing on the hill at s/west listening to Jimmy's and Stamma's sledges.

[quote="skywalker"]Grand Finals

Grade 6
Two Wells (A) vs Craigmore (C) @ Two Wells - Two Wells should win, but if Galway makes runs and Walker takes wickets, Craigmore could upset.

Craigmore are more than a 2 player team, this was proved last weekend when Galway didnt make many runs and Walker didnt take many wickets. It will take a team effort to knock off Two Wells A Grade.

Also supported by the fact a 15 year old lad hit 141 (I think) earlier this year... It certainly takes more than 1 or 2 contributors to win a GF

Grand Finals
Grade 1
Salisbury West (A) vs Rose & Crown (A) @ Salisbury West - over in a day if westies bowl first
Grade 2
Smithfield (A) vs Parafield Gardens (A) @ Smithfield - give the kiss of death to them as havent been able to get a pick right with them all year plus I love LM
Grade 3
Brahma Lodge (B) vs One Tree Hill (B) @ Brahma Lodge - Gotta pick my own club
Grade 4
Parafield Gardens (B) vs Salisbury West (C) @ Parafield Gardens - Westies in an upset
Grade 5
Salisbury North (C) vs Virginia (B) @ Salisbury North - football season to close for SN to think about cricket
Grade 6
Two Wells (A) vs Craigmore (C) @ Two Wells - If their A Grade cant beat a C Grade then they should fold - joke they are in this grade
Grade 7
Modbury (A) vs Parafield Gardens (C) @ The Heights - Modbury's E Grade have qualified a few quality players from their B & C Grade
Grade 8
One Tree Hill (C) vs Central United (D) @ One Tree Hill - OTH to win the game - Central United to win the after game punch up and the spectators will sit where ever they like

dont think that is very fair saying over in a day if westies bowl first.... the only 2 dayer that rose and crown have played against them this yr they batted all day only to make 165 but in a gf that could be enough.
