Concordia probably spat the dummy over the conditions of the pitch, never met a bigger bunch of front runners in my life

I have been told it will actually be SPOC with the forfeit.. Prepared the wrong pitch for day 2 of the match! Not rocket science that 2 day game must be played on the same pitch I wouldn't have thought.

And interesting call heater- who do u play for?

Correct. Wrong pitch was prepared for second day, so SPOC refused to play. I'm sure ATCA will investigate this matter before the result is made official

Problem is not putting them on it is removing them without getting the pitch it supposed to be keeping dry wet.....

Must be mandatory in A grade comps in my opinion..
Those that have them only pick and choose when they want to use them anyway....

That is why they choose. Not all clubs have them, should be a condition if you want to play A1 minimum imo.

Just lump another requirement onto the growing pile.
Not only are their the initial costs, but then the time commitment to be available to put them on and off as required during the week.

This is an amature comp remember.

If you played turf cricket in Tassie you would be down there every day putting the covers on. Otherwise you would never get a game in.

Small inconvenience to play cricket I think.

agreed heater.if you want to play, then get the help to put them on and off. It could be the difference between relegation and staying up or being promoted.
If you get washed out and other clubs get away, then straight away you are a fair amount behind in the points.
Or you are forced to play on a dodgey wet deck, lose the toss, lose the game and you can be 10 or more points behind the 8 ball.

when playing turf in qld , it was mandatory for covers in all A grade games whether forecast for rain or not........
we took it in turns on a friday night to put covers on and take off early on saturday morning.
if all players take turns no one can whinge.....simple.
if you want to play turf you gotta sacrifice a little of your time to get the best solution.
COVERS are a must in all turf games .....well mainly a grade anyway.........
former lover of turf. ;)

Yeah, Thursday and Friday during the day, managed to sneak practice in and kids games went ahead Friday afternoon, looked ominous though on both days though, I didn't think either was going to go ahead.

Thanks Browny25! it was not looking good on friday with the ends of the pitch wet, but we super sopped the water away and got the blowers out on it, the pitch was gold to play on!

There are some quality players in that side. You must be happy with your start to the year. :)
Just what you guys would have wanted coming across from hard wicket.
Are you guys glad you are in A3, or do you think thats about right?

Any club can you use covers in any Grade. Most clubs that do have them would only have single wicket covers. If I remember correctly when it became compulsory for District A Grade grounds all clubs only had single wicket covers.

Single wicket cover would require a couple blokes to put them down and a couple to take them up the next day. Just make sure the more inteligent people are taking them off if it has rained.

Depending on how they are set up, you can get away with 1 person getting them on and off. Port Adelaides single wicket covers are on a roll type set up, so all you need to do is roll them up and tow them off. But if you had to fold them, then an extra set of hands would help.

single pitch covers wouldnt be any good as the 2 adjacent pitches would still be soaked. i.e. bowlers follow through would be ordinary.
Its my understanding that only A1 teams could have covers.

I've only seen 2 sides mate, so not sure.

Both games could have gone either way
