Hmm, was pretty quiet on here last summer. I'm the only regular TVCA poster these days.
As for the umps, yes AEHCA's riches were enviously discussed the other night.

AEHCA was pretty fortunte last year with the Umpire's Coordinator putting in a lot of effort to source new umpires pre-season. I believe ads were ran in The Courier and repeated on the AEHCA website which gathered enough interest.
And when the $110-per-game carrot was dangled, that probably enticed a few too. Not bad coin at all. Not sure how that compares to TVCA or HCA.

No juniors in this comp?
Had Mt.Pleasant/Springton enquire about putting their juniors in the BLCA

Looks like it'll only be "T20 Blast" this season, hopefully with at least 4 clubs putting a team into that. First time the assoc. has run it.
Have 3 clubs with U12s (Gum, Springton, Birdwood), a couple with U10s (Lenswood, Springton). Lenswood, Gum and Birdwood to field their juniors in AEHCA, Springton in a bit of tough spot as AEHCA isn't exactly ideal given their location.
Palmer may still have an U15s in Murray Towns this year, not sure.

There was some last minute talk of having 8 a side. Could be a goer next season.
Any cricketers from your way heading to our comp this year that you know of? You were on the money with Hunter, certainly made a huge difference to Cambrai.

So is the top 4 already set after 1 round after last seasons bottom 3 all losing in round 1 ?
Woodside comfortably accounted for an inexperienced Creek side who should be considerably strengthened in coming weeks but if they are unable to pinch a game against the 2 Big guns in Strath and Nairne in rounds 2 and 3, an anticipated finals spot will be a tough ask fro 0 - 3 with 9 to play.
Woodside appear a safe bet for finals but its doubtful whether they'll improve enough to take the next step.
Ashbourne are always an interesting team with their English Imports. Overall they havent lived up to expectations or their ability in recent seasons tho maybe O'Connor may excel with the bat after reportedly making 57 in very good style before being run out.
One would struggle to see Ashbourne make the finals tho with the loss of ace spinner Fowlston and maybe Bakridi to the US ???????
Straths batting has appeared to be strengthened on paper, not that they needed it on Saturday with Luke Cousins and Mark Abbott continuing on their merry way from last years run spree
Wooden Spoon favorite Wistow despite only making 75 on the Hill, gave Lobethal a fright after they had moved to 0/45 but then Steve Nettle ran amok as he ripped through them to see them crumble to 6/56 but Lobey steadied to limp past the target to open their account. Interesting to Wimberly back in the A grade line up for Lobey after spending last year in C grade.
