Yeah heat outs, shortened season and even 20/20 C grade games played were not taken into consideration when it came to Mt Lofty players. We applied for a permit for one player who had played 5 games, at least one of the 20/20 games and had been available both weekends of the heat outs.

I think these players should have been allowed to play but if one teams permits are denied it should be the same for all teams.

There must have been a lot of forfeits?

According to SACA rules, heat outs are regarded as playing a game.

meadows had won a game against happy valley a few weeks ago in the c grade quite easily but they had their points taken away because the heat rule was not applicable to a couple of players who apparently required a permit to play also , i think you will find the gate may be in trouble with this one if the hills is to be consistent with its rulings.

I would assume if permits were applied for, they would have to be reject especially when Mt Lofty and Meadows have suffered over the past weeks, as discussed above. Therefore if thats the case Meadows must be awarded the win. From the Results Vault it appears the following players are in trouble.

Paul Wandner - Only played 4 Sat games prior to the weekend (6 Saturdays required)
Ben Nottage - Only played 5 Sat prior to the weekend however played a 20-20
Shane Griffits - Only played 5 Sat

If the Hills are to be consistent with rulings dished out to other club. Then these players would not be granted a permit and therefore Meadows would go through.

An unfortunate grey area when it comes to heat policy....

That would be fine if we were playing in their comp!

Sounds like Aldgate presumed they qualified and therefore didnt request a permit, yet teams that did in the same situation got refused permits, so all that needs to happen now is Meadows protest and they will be in the Granny.....unless Aldgate have a very good Lawyer!

From my knowledge Meadows are aware and lodged a protest!! I doubt a lawyer would help as the rules clearly state that a permit musted be requested and accepted, if no permit was request then they would have no leg to stand on.

There were only 10 C grade games this year so having to play in 6 was a bit stiff to qualify, rules are rules I guess

i can understand why the onkas v meadows game is on one of their home grounds, as both their grounds are the best two, had to be one of them. but surely the b's should be on a neutral ground, in this case on balhannah..

good luck to all the teams on the weekend, hopefully no more punch on's haha..

The highest ranked team this year has a choice of using their home ground or a neutral ground. I think this is a good idea to reward the team that has gotten teh job done all year.

The only reason the C's are at a neutral ground is that the A's are already playing at Meadows. Suits Lofty fine as they won their Semi at the same ground this week :).

Bad luck Cougar. They also say “Cricket is a funny game”. Mt Torrens dropped only a couple of catches but they hurt them dearly, while we dropped 7 without any real harm done.

Had a few drinks with the Lobethal boys after they came back to their oval, the “R” word was being thrown around a bit but I’m sure they’ll all be back.

Unless Bridgy decided that they wanted the game at a neutral venue in which case it could have been played at Uraidla etc.

To qualify you didn't necessarily have to have played your 6 days in Cs. You just have to have played 6 days across any of the grades.

Blokes that can't even manage 6 days in a season are barely deserving of finals action in my view. If I had played most of the season in a certain grade and that team made finals and I was pushed out by some guy who couldn't even commit to a third of the summer I would be pretty pissed off.

Clubs aren't expected to name their teams in ResultsVault before the start of play (hell, some clubs struggle to get the names in the book before the toss). As a result there is no way that HCA can count washouts, heat-outs and forfeits as playing days as they would have no way of knowing who was or wasn't available for selection for those games.

Playing days = days where cricket was played.
